yeah its really up to the states. i happen to live in a state with a doctor for a governor who already pushed for health care reform at the state level..insurance exchanges are going to go live very soon. most other states have probably been sitting around waiting they wouldnt have to deal with it.

as far as the complexity, hopefully some bureaucrats in the agencies can sit down and write some reasonable regs to implement the statute. then we'll get a couple decades of case law to interpret everything. haha.

As someone who works alternatively with 2 state governments and the federal government, all I want to say is I thought the federal government was fucked up until I started working with state governments. The feds are on the fucking ball compared to the fucktards at state level.

Obviously some states are different, but that has been my experience in Missouri and Illinois.

well they know you can retire at 50 and get lifetime health care and a pension. thats what all my in laws do in NC. spend all day at gun shows, tractor swaps, livestock auctions, and bear fights. the life.

I just wanted to follow up on our conversation. You might think this is obnoxious of me but I am adamant about people staying informed about what their government is doing. Although I was wrong in saying that the flex accounts are ending, Obamacare does limit the amount a family (of any number of children) can put in an account every year to $2500 (there is no limit today). Obamacare also restricts what you can purchase with these funds. The point is that numerous families (especially those with cronic illnesses and childhood disabilities) will see a huge increase in their taxes--this was the point--the democrats used these new taxes to help fund the health care.

Also, you all said Obamacare does not apply to insurance plans outside of the government. That is completely wrong--Obamacare applies to every health care plan--which is why the Catholic Church and Catholic universities such as Notre Dame are suing b/c Obamacare forces them to pay for their employees' birth control and abortifacents.

Finally, you all should know that your premiums are going to go up. Under Obamacare, insurance companies are no longer allowed to charge higher premiums for people who are older and sicker. Therefore, in order for an insurance company to be able to afford paying medical bills, younger and healthier people will see their premiums rise dramatically. Finally, there will be many people who decide not to get health insurance and just pay the penalty (or tax), which will be extremely cheaper than a health insurance premium, especially for those who are younger and healthier. And by requiring insurance companies to accept preexisting conditions, one need only pay the small penalty, wait to get sick, and then buy health insurance. (This is like having your house burn down, then buying fire insurance, and then requiring the insurance company to reimburse you for your losses). Anyway, so the many healthy people who will opt out of the system and pay the penalty will mean that premiums must go up again to cover the doctor bills of the old and sick, who, as I said before, cannot be charged a higher premium than you and I (who are young and healthy).
