On the contrary, Bruinsnation was unified in its respect and support for a great coach, one of the best offensive play callers in football. We thought he was doing an admirable job under difficult circumstances. We were hoping he would stay several more years. really, many, many more years.

(pulled him off the team bus at 3:00am and fired him, wouldn't let him back on the bus - stay classy SUCsters)

Now if your Bulldogs will just beat Bama, ok?

28-13 as I type this. Just too many injuries to overcome. What did you do, Bloor? Every football team that you love is broken to pieces.

The Huskers need to stop giving up touchdowns in the final moments of the game. For the second week in a row they gave up a garbage touchdown, and this one cost them a shutout. That's the kind of thing a young, porous defense needs to gain confidence.

It was nice to see Utah take down Stanford after Washington came so close to doing it a week earlier. I wish somebody could do the same thing to Oregon, and I'm happy Nebraska doesn't have to play the Badgers at Camp Randall this year after seeing what they did to Northwestern yesterday.

p.s. I'm not very thrilled about the current bowl projections from College Football News. They have the Huskers playing Cocky in the Outback Bowl and the Badgers playing Georgia in the Capital One Bowl again.
I was kind of looking forward to playing Florida in the Gator Bowl or being bad enough to end up playing a Big 12 team in one of the lower tier Texas bowls. They could still falter along the way, and easily lose three or four more games, so I won't put much thought into having to play South Carolina twice in three years.

There was such promise for them all, and now nothing... Just nothing.

I was pretty impressed with Missouri though. Those receivers are BIG and on par with LSU's in the talent department. Defense is just ok, but that's not much different than the rest of the league. Unfortunately, now they've lost Franklin so the rest of their season is very much up in the air.

As for us, we're not out of it in the East, only now we no longer determine our own destiny. Gotta get Gurley back, but nobody is coming back to help that defense. They just flat out aren't very good.

Well, it looks like the Huskers might get their chance to take down the Ducks themselves in '16 and '17:

Scott Frost could be coaching the Huskers by that time too. I'm not sure who or why they decided to push the Tennessee back a decade and for Nebraska to play Oregon instead of the Vols in 2016 and 2017, but I'm sure it has something to do with the Rose Bowl and trying to recruit players in Pac-12 country.

He was a great coach and pretty much put Washington Football on the map.

Nope, none here.
I think Minnesota did a great job of mimicking the Wisconsin game plan from the Big Ten title game last year, and that the offensive game plan for the Huskers after having two weeks to scheme for the Gophers was questionable at best.
I was hoping to either be dead or at least not forced to listen to the game while at work when the Gophers finally beat the Huskers in my lifetime, but other than that, this game wasn't nearly as brutal to listen to as the calamity against UCLA earlier this year.
I continue to wonder how Pelini ever earned the title of a Defensive guru when his teams seem to be unable to stop a simple Jet Sweep or any sort of bootleg out of that formation, and You can also count me as one of those people who audibly groaned last night when they read that Taylor Martinez would be starting again today.
All this game or any more losses this year do is prevent them from being exposed in the Big Ten title game once again, and most likely not being throttled by some SEC team in Orlando again, and I can live with that. I need to prepare myself for the Huskers to lose to Michigan State for the first time ever in a couple of weeks, and possibly finishing the season with a 5-7 record and a loss to Iowa to end the year.
As it is, I'm too old for this shit, and I could go without having to hear know it all arm chair quarterbacks drone on about these games each and every day and do something far more constructive with my Saturdays.

Brew beer, go cycling, run, go see an art show or gig, watch a Soccer match, work, do household chores, etc, etc. I'll concede the fact that at least 70% of this state is a rural wasteland with little to do but watch/listen to a Husker Football game on a Saturday, but it is pretty easy to find something to do that has nothing to do with the Huskers in Lincoln/Omaha during most Football Saturdays.
You can also simply shut off your tv, stay away from a computer, listen to music and read a book for those three and a half hours.

Totally forgot to do the Pick 'em this week.
I attended the Minnesota v. Penn St. game today.
I'm purely a bandwagoner, but it's fun to be part of an atmosphere where a program makes a transition.
I'll be back in my Badger red in a couple weeks.

Went to the Georgia game yesterday, but it was a glad handing, luxury sky box, "nice to SEE you" affair more than a traditional gameday.

I'm fully expecting the Huskers to lose to Sparty on Saturday in a low scoring affair. Nebraska's offense might even be shutout in the game, but I still have a little hope since it is a home game and due to the fact that Nebraska has never lost a game to Michigan State.

It might be a good thing if that streak comes to an end, since I don't really want to see a plucky, but injury riddled Husker team get blown out by Ohio State in a primetime game on National TV for the Big Ten title.

p.s. Does Auburn have any shot of winning the Iron Bowl?

The Huskers finally lost to the Spartans, but that game was a lot closer than it should/could have been. Nebraska turned the ball over three times in the first quarter and five times total during the game, and were still in it until midway through the fourth quarter when the Blackshirts finally tuckered out.
It would be nice if they could recruit a quarterback who doesn't have fumbleitis, but with all the injuries and controversy surrounding the Pelini comments, they could easily be .500 or worse right now.
This loss spared them from being absolutely embarrassed by the Buckeyes in the Big Ten title game, so I guess they've got that going for them.
I also have to mention that Charlie Weis finally won a Big 12 game at Kansas. It must really suck to be a West Virginia fan this year.
