the Winter Ale they've had out was one of the joys of this past Winter.
I've become a big fan of Imageas of late.

Good fucking beer. I had a few Purple Haze's in NO the other weekend, for the first time in at least 6 or 7 years. Refreshing, but I couldn't drink more than maybe 2.

I like beer samplers, though.

Yum, though Abitia needs to be a little more, um, sanitary in their brewing. I've come across some skunky beers from time to time. Also they need a born on date, because they sell Abita Amber and TurboDog at Kroger but I never have any idea how old it is. Ya know?

I posed the Abita question at Mike (Saved) earlier in the thread, but you two jumped on in.

I like Turbo Dog in name and taste, but Purple Haze makes me ill. I hate that shit.

Corey, they also make a beer exclusively for Corky's, which is a chain-ish BBQ joint in Memphis (I won't complain too much about how chainish it is, cos they got one at the airport now, and a playa need to get his rib on) that is pretty rad.

BTW -- I got on the damn ol' moonshine last night. Not feelin too hott now.

The bar I used to frequent when in Ruston caught a shipment of surplus Abita Amber. They sold it for a buck, which was great for us college kids, until we got tired of it, which took months. I haven't had it since then.

The Purple Haze is just to fruity for me. Not my thing.

Once worked the Abita table at the Athens Brewfest, maybe '97 or so. Had a couple of 'necks just hang out next to the table, holding out their tiny little sample glasses, saying "y'all might as weyull just gimme that'n there bottle, cuz I ain't a-goin nowheres else." Hey, they had good taste.

Your thoughts, Mr. LA Man.

Abita Turbo Dog
Abita Purple Haze
Dixie

Scale 1-10:

Turbo Dog - 8
Purple Haze - 6
Dixie - swill

Turbo Dog is great stuff. I see they've changed their label. Yum.

Still... anything by Sam Smith's is going to beat just about anything (except Guinness) every time.

All my friends think Purple Haze is chick beer, but I kinda like it. I 've had one Dixie in all my life and it was at least 6 yrs old in my friends grandmother's refrigator. we had nothing else. It was actually Dixie Black Magic or something. I had one and decided we needed to quit being lazy and go get some beer.

I had Dixie Blackend Voodoo once. Cool label. The stuff by Unibroue is pretty tasty, but I can't drink a lot of it. Trois Pistoles is my favorite of all of them, but Maudite is good too.

These days I've been on a Triplex Brewing Company kick. That's right, home brew. By the way, how did yours come out, Chase?

Well, then you should probably stick one in the fridge when you get home, let it cool down to between 45 and 50 for starters (so you can get an idea about its character better than if it's thirst-quenching cold), get out a nice glass, taste it, and then report back to the rest of us on your boozemaking prowess.

If it still seems a little flat or a little immature, let the rest age for another couple of weeks, then repeat. But I wouldn't be surprised if you start boozing it up right away. Word to the wise: you should probably start a new batch immediately, as these will go unbelievably fast. I try to have drinkable, aging, and fermenting beers at any given time. Probably brewing about 11.5 new gallons this coming weekend.

excited about hearing how it went!

Anyone try one of Sam Adams "Extreme" Beers, Millenium, Utopias, Triple Bock?

http://store1.yimg.com/I/randalls_1839_62101159

I haven't tried anyone of them, they're a bit pricey.

I love living in the Pacific Northwest, where it's easier to find a good microbrew on tap than bud light.
