I went with Farley. I just think the way he acted on the show blows away the others on the list. I think it's the funniest of them all, in a strictly SNL setting. I think Ferrell is absolutely hilarious. Outside of SNL, I think that him being the architect in the spoof of The Matrix on the sketch for the MTV awards show is possibly the funniest I have seen him and also the best thing MTV ever did.

Hartman. He was good. But, his wife killed him. That's lame. He didn't go out on an O.D. like Farley. Tough shit, Hartman. You win some, you lose some.

Bill Murray was and has only been really funny to me outside of SNL stuff. But, I think that man is the funniest actor around these days.

I mean, I still laugh these days to the time when Farley was "El Nino" on Weekend Update. "I am the great El Nino. For those of you who don't know, El Nino is spanish for [short pause] THE NINO!"

Went with Chevy Chase. Mike Myers, Phil Hartman, Chris Farley, and Norm Macdonald round out my top 5.

If you count Newsradio, Phil is by far my favorite though.

The current cast is terrible. Molly Shannon is funnier than all the women on the show now. Why does everyone hate her, anyway?

Mad TV has been a lot funnier and had a better cast than SNL for a while now.

Agreed. So much of my sense of humor was shaped by the stuff that was on during these times. For instance... If someone comes to me tomorrow with a real crappy idea I will probably say, "That sounds a little Bad Idea Jeans to me."

I voted for Farley then regretted not going with Phil. Immensely talented and the only celebrety death that ever made me cry.

No, there were at least 75-80 other people on the show. It's been on 30 years, you might have noticed.

There are people I left off because they sucked.

It's pretty muc Hartman and then everyone else. thing is, dude could actually become a character. his Sinatra IS Sinatra. To Luther Campbell: "Can't understand a word!!"

Eddie was tight too, now. I think the originals get a little overrated because of how new this shit really was, but I think the late 80s-early 90s was the true peak.

I will give McDonald and Ferrel credit, in that their impressions are not even losely based on the original person, but really just how absurd being that person would be. Hence Turd Ferguson. hilarious? yes. good impression? NO.[/i]

In retrospect, I feel bad for not giving props to Chris Elliott. Yeah, he wasn't very good on SNL, but during his stint on NBC-era Letterman, he was the single funniest person on television.

Hartman just always seemed like a professional among amatures to me on SNL. I didn't think of it consciously until now, but he was just so perfect at what he did... he never cracked up during skits, his impersonations were freakishly good, and he had a knack for making any bit they gave him as funny as it could possibly be. Others were good, but not on the same level. It's like he was the ringer on a corporate baseball team.

I think this was one of the funniest sketches in years....

I have a crush on Amy Poehler.
I like alot of the new cast members. Dave Parnell is great. Seth Myers. Horatio still! Fred Armison is good.
