You've got in some good shots here, but I can't help but feel I still have the high ground just by being the one NOT in the unfortunate position of defending the institution of motor sports.

does he have a formula 1 win?

formula one's just the only circuit that i follow and tony stewart seems like the one nascar guy that would give it a serious shot. if you'd told me that he'd won one i'd have believed you.

likewise, I believed you b/c i know ur a fan; i'm researching the truth. but fuck chase, dont only like 4 people win F-1 races?

theres probly 5 or 6 Nextel cup guys that could jump in an F-1 car right now with no probs and a few more with some time. Most of the better drivers are now coming out of open wheel; fuck, why not, there is a hell of a lot more money in Nascar than any other racing with the exception of F-1.

I'm an F1 fan, a sorta-Champ car fan and a non-fan of Nascar and IRL. Given the amount of money available in F1 I would wonder why these 5 or 6 Nextel cup guys don't make that jump.

Michael Schumacher. Nuff said.

Do Nextel guys drive in the rain? You can't judge any driver until you see how he controls a car in the rain. And Schumacher may be the best ever...though i do have a soft-spot for Gilles (not Jacques) Villeneuve as the best wet weather driver ever, his qualifying session in the rain at Watkins Glen is legendary.

i remembered Gordon doing some demo laps a while back in an f1 cockpit but this was all i could find about it:
http://www.gordonline.com/archive/061203.html

edit- i mean not all, but they all seem to say that he didn't do too bad, that the f1 cars are ridiculous, and they he may do some more testing for williams in the future. basically they also say that it would be awesome to get an american driver for f1 as it would add the largest market to what is already the largest circuit. and that michael schumacher is a bitch. at least that's how i read it.

At first, I was wondering why we were talking about Winnie from the Wonder Years all of a sudden. Homegirl even resembles Danica McKellar a little.

edit: well, maybe not all that much.

I've lived near or in Indianapolis for all 27 years of my life and went to the 500 for the first time on Sunday. It was fun. It's amazing how many hicks can gather in one place.

Danica did well, 4th place. She's not nearly as good looking when she's sitting in the car with her helmet on.

I haven't read the rest of this thread so excuse me if I've repeated others.

Winnie was a Race Car Driver
And she drove so goddamned fast
She never did win no checkered flag
But she never did come in last
Winnie was a race car driver
She'd say "El solo number one"
With a bocephus sticker
On her 442 she'd light 'em up
Just for fun
