it's not a last line of defense. it's just amazing that a first place team in a major market, a record better than ALL of baseball, can't get 25K people to come out.

we just did. We just averaged 26,000 for a six game homestand. The next homestand, we'll average well over 30,000. This is just the beginning. The park looks better than ever and Sox fans are coming out of the woodwork everywhere. I can't think of a non-opener, non-Cubs, non-yankees game that was sold out in the past five years, but low and behold we had one last week.

Well, half-price Monday was the only reason we sold out that game, not to mention it was Memorial Day. I'm a die hard South-Sider but I've come to terms that the Sox will never draw. I like it that way... you can go to any game you want and the people that are there, know their baseball. I liken it to being a part of an exclusive club.

The Sox have to keep winning like this, then when we get those 8 home games vs. the Twins and the NYY series in August, you'll see a massive spike. Hell, the first home game after they clinched in 2000, Comiskey was only 3/5 full... and Pedro was throwing that night.

you do like me but this is one of those things that has been genetically ingrained in me since i was a baby. it was totally love the sox/hate the cubs in my neighborhood and even though i'm all growed up and out of the hood i can't shake it. sorry. wrigley field has the worst hot dogs, too.

They now have some of the same food as US Cellular.

You should've seen Wrigley from about 1983-93. 8 of the ten years the place was a desolate wasteland. Only in the past ten years (with the gentrification of Lakeview) has Wrigley and Cubdom become more popular than ever. In 10 years, Sox park will be packed most nights.

Don't forget Harry. He almost single-handedly revitalized that park/neighborhood.

Also, Metra is contemplating adding a line that goes out to Sox park... then all of the old season tix holders that live in the southwest suburbs have an easy time going to games. The plan is coming together.

I think I saw the words "Chico's Bail Bonds" on the back of Damon's jersey.

I seriously want to find the picture from last season of Johnny Damon and Gabe Kapler standing in the outfield at Fenway and their jersey numbers together are 1918.

Good job, robotboy.

For your outstanding shit talking and taunting, I will punch Derek Lee's name on three ballots at the Nationals game tomorrow.

Not to get ahead of the season, but since we've had the Battle of the Bay (Giants-As in '89), and Subway Series (Mets-Yankees in '00), what about this year an I-5 Series (Angels-Dodgers) or Subway and Elevated Series (Cubs-White Sox)?

A Chicago band should do a song called "Ground Ruled In The Ivy"

That's some outfield.

my sister had 4 bleacher tickets for friday's game. they ended up going, but if I was her I would have seriously considered selling them. $500 a pop easy.

I went to the Nationals game today and had one of the worst all-around baseball experiences ever. Fuck those Expo fucks.

i was at a barbecue this afternoon and my friend's husband gets a call from his brother that a guy in a bar where he's at is unloading 100 levels for $30. we leave the barbecue and rush down to meet him at wrigley. by the time we do, he says the tickets were gone and he's got another way in for himself, but not for us. then he gets a call that his pass isn't coming through. we walk around looking for tickets, but scoff at $60+/per.

he feels bad about having us come down and starts making calls. he gets wind that one of his old friends has a stack of tickets and is just sitting at some bar. we go there, but the friend isn't around. he feels even worse for walking us all over wrigleyville and says, "i'll be back." he leaves. my friend's husband confidently says, "he'll have tickets when he comes back."

five minutes later, he comes back with suite tickets for $30. we're all excited. i immediately start to fear they're fakes, but we get inside and find the suite. the people in there tell us the tickets were stolen and we can't stay because they're entertaining clients. (they said we could've stayed otherwise.)

so, the brothers tell one of the security guys that we bought stolen tickets and i'm thinking, "you guys are idiots! they're going to think we stole them and throw us out!" security starts walking us downstairs and i tell my friend that i'm bailing if we turn toward an exit. instead, we go into an office and security starts asking us about the tickets. we're told that we can stay if we cooperate. the guy who bought the tickets gives a description of the scalper and they tell us to go to standing-room or find empty seats. so, it didn't turn out too bad.

funny side note: my friend is a domme and saw one of her clients at the game. she pointed him out and then hid her face. i found it highly amusing, especially after she told me his kinks.
