But the buzz in some Scientology circles is that Cruise may have reached one of the highest echelons of the Church of Scientology. While not a lot is known about this level, known cryptically as OT-VII, Scientology observers say that attaining it could explain Cruise's behavior in recent months.

I may get slammed for this but I partly agree with Cruise regarding his take on the "medicating of America."

He's got no business telling Brooke Shields what is the best way to deal with her problems. However, he is right on target with his concern that popping a pill is not always the answer. I don't freakin' think Scientology is the answer either, but he is right in suggesting that all this is a bit Brave New World-ish.

Feeling down? Here take this
Low on energy? Try this one
Anger issues? Maybe this will do the trick
Hyperactive? Take the blue, then the green

Doctors are passing this stuff out like candy.

Also, I'm no hypocrite. I can find fault with this situation but realize that I'm part of the problem because I'M on a ton of shit. If I don't have my fuckitol every day I'm a freakin' mess.

Also, I know firsthand that most people who are on this stuff are not being monitored properly. Consultations with my first 2 doctors consisted of them asking me how I was feeling and then writing the prescription. In and out of the office in 5-10 minutes. It was not until my third try that I found a doctor who had the hands on approach that I wanted.

I don't know what the answer is and I'm damn sure that Cruise doesn't have it, but I just wanted to say that I can partially see his point.

I don't think many will disagree with this. Matt Lauer said as much, but to dismiss the entire field isn't very imformed. And Scientology is just wacky.

I'm right there with ya...about 8 years ago, before a GOOD doctor diagnosed my COPD ( breathing disease, for those who don't know ) I saw this quack who immediately had me fill out this ridiculous questionaire. After looking at my answers he immediately said I was "depressed" & put me on meds for it. Now, the questions on this thing were about as wide-open as could be...friggin' Pee Wee Herman could've been diagnosed as suicidal after taking it.

After a couple months I stopped taking the medication, cuz all it did was make me a zombie. My real problems had to do with the COPD & stress I was dealing with at the time ( & the answer to that was quitting the job that led to the stress - NOT numbing myself to it ) ...many's the time I've wondered how many people were given "depression" medicine ( & it turns out this doctor's office prescribed this stuff a LOT to people ) for problems that were completely unrelated.

The whole exchage b/t Matt and TC, though, was so nutty, and so filled with TC's megalomania, as to even shock me...and I already thought TC was a tard.

"Matt..Matt... Matt.... Matt.... Matt. You are glib."

That was the most comical line in history. What a pompous douche!

I'm not all that phased by Tom Cruise's behavior. I've heard loopier things come out of celebrities before and didn't see the whole world make a big deal about it. Then again, I never saw the Oprah incident. But jumping up and down on a couch just doesn't strike me as something that is headline or gossip worthy, even if it is over someone 16 years your junior. The Katie Holmes thing? You go man.

Also, The Firm and A Few Good Men are classics as far as I'm concerned.

The issue I have with Cruise's ranting is that he never makes a viable point. He just keeps saying it's wrong and he knows more about it then anyone and then never backs up exactly what is and why it is wrong.

Yes, overmedicating is rampant. Yes there are doctors out there who will diagnose you with some paxil before really finding out if say for instance that you just suffered some trauma that could really just use some awesome therapy or a good bottle of gin.

But as a parent that watched their child suffer for years and all normal ways of coping and trying to solve those problems were exhausted until he went on a cocktail that is VERY closely watched, I can say that sometimes medicating can be the right solution.

Most of you know what I went through and how traumatic it was, and all I can say is I no longer have a child that is overly obsessive, highly anxious, a danger to himself and others and lives a happy, normal existence. My son's self esteem has skyrocketed, he now has lots of friends, plays in sports, excels at school and is adjusted at home and in other social situations. The drugs help him, not hinder him. NOW, he DID originally start out on Ritalin and THAT DID fuck him up a bit worse. And I curse the doctors whose care he was under at the time. But his current group of docs are fabulous and well, I would love to one day see him off of them, and slowly but surely we will do that.

I'm just saying that Cruise is an egomaniac who doesn't have a fucking clue about the real world out there and he needs to shut the hell up. I found him annoying before, now I just think he's a complete moron and needs some therapy himself to find out why he thinks he's God.

I'll listen to what a Scientologist has to say about psychiatry right after I'm through listening to the Pope's view on condoms.

I can't get that to come up Dana, but I'm assuming it's regarding that him and Rob Thomas(who apparently has been rumored for a long while to be BI) and Tom were having an affair and that Rob's wife walked in on them and found out and she was eventually bought off with a LOT, and I mean a LOT of cash.

hahaaa
