James Kirk - Guitarist, Singer, Songwriter

Intellectual Glasgow University student. Snappy dresser. Sacked from Orange Juice for being "unprofessional". Stayed home, when all this peers left for the bright lights of New York or London.

Deliberatly disappeared from the music scene for 23 years before effortlessly returning with great album and then promptly disappearing again. Just cos he could.

Probably at this very moment giggling at Top of the Pops re-runs while flicking through some tatty old books on Romanticism purchased on Otago Lane.

I would have to turn avatars on for this thread to make any sense. I'm not doing that until I'm back on highspeed and y'all have all your avatars fixed so that it doesn't bog down the threads.

Mine: it's me. Sorta.

Peter, the avatar problem was fixed awhile ago.

As for me, I thought I'd give Dov a run for his money. ;)

No, it came back the other day. When I turned avatars off, the board sped right back up.

I think Haq determined it was the addition of the Charts section. We're supposed to get switched over to heavy duty servers which should solve the problem.

Sorry.

Avatars will continue to cause slowness as long as people keep using large avatars from slow remote servers.

But the charts should be causing far less problems now that I've optimized them.

Nope, I don't think it's that, just tried it again. Turned avatars on, page wouldn't load (this one, page 3 of this thread). Turned 'em back off, page loaded right up.

As to whose is the problem, I do not know. That's for you to know and you to find out. I've only got the one option to play with...erm...with which to play.

Neon light hung over the stage at most post-Alien Lanes GBV shows (lyric from "A Salty Salute").
Switched on just before they took the stage to rock my face off.

<--------Mr. David Gedge

I used to have a pic of myself up, but my wife wasn't comfortable with that (?)....so now, if anyone tries to hunt me down and kidnap me...you'll end up with the lead singer and guitarist of the Wedding Present.

Everybody wins.

I just changed mine... I was getting tired of the self-cartoon picture. Now it's a movie still that was used on a Bauhaus poster for Bela Lugosi's Dead, which is strange, because the image is from the movie "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari."

edit: now that I think about it, I think the poster was just a generic Bauhaus poster. There was one for Bela Lugosi's Dead that had Dracula flying into the room. Anybody remember?

Phil Spector, in court, on trial, rocking a haircut that says "I am above giving a fuck anymore about any of this."

Damn, Chase, you sound like 3 miles of bad road.

I'm sure this is a stupid question, but how the hell did you guys get your avatars under 10k? Even when I shrink mine down, they are still something like 70-80k.
