I thought Brazil won easily. They let Ghana have the ball but Ghana had scored it would have been all to easy to go up the park and score a few at the other end.

Just because they haven't been exciting doesn't mean they aren't winning at a canter. Brazil are putting 3 and 4 by teams without even trying.

Nah Brazil put 4 past a poor Japan side and then hit 3 against Ghana because they had to push players forward to try and get back in the game and Ghana played the same offside trap that Germany got caught out with in the Costa Rica game. They could very easily of lost that game if Ghana had off taken the chances early on, but yeah Brazil exposed the gaps in the latter stages. Ain't nothing to do with being exciting.

Hell i hope Brazil start turning over teams but they don't seem to have the midfield to impress. Adriano was offside for his goal and apart from Ronaldinho & Kaka they look ordinary compared to the argies.

But i hope they prove me wrong.

I keep hearing people say things like this, but other than in their 6-0 win, I think Argentina has looked rather ordinary.

Brazil hasn't been a machine like some people but they've been winning rather easily. And if that bad off-sides call against Ronaldo in the first 2 minutes hadn't been made, it would have been 2-0 after 7 minutes. That would have changed the outlook for Ghana completely and might have resulted in the blow out everyone seems to expect everytime Brazil steps on the field.

I've seen nothing so far to think Brazil shouldn't still be considered the favorites. Of course I'm biased, though.

I see Brazil doing exactly what it wanted to do ... building each game, peaking at the finals. I think part of the deal with Ghana was, Ghana was very, very good. And lost by 3 goals... Forgive me for ever doubting the Fat Man.... he's still got it.

Brazil beats Germany in finals.... what I've said all along. Only it's more interesting getting there than I thought...

Something tells me England loses by 4 goals....

if england actually shows up they have some quality games in them. . .but if they keep playing like they have they won't go much further.

i think germany has a good chance of taking out brazil--they've looked strong so far and have the crowd behind them. much more inventive even if their defense could potentially cost them.

Man, you've got to give it to the Germans - they NEVER miss a penalty.

Argentina bottled it today. They went 1-0 up and tried to defend it. Big mistake in any match but especially against a Germany team with a lot of momentum behind them.

gave you a link that works. . but yeah, totally, i was thinking the same thing during the match.

i can't understand why germany--who was a head taller than the whole argintine side--didn't run down the wings and get the ball in the air? stupid.

because they just couldnt, maxi kept tracking back (and coloccini to an extent) had lahm on the wing, for instance

that said, pekerman lost this game for argentina when he decided to close shop and defend the 1-0 lead. they could have easily kept hitting on the counter and bury it once and for all. way to go mang, nice subs too

WHERE was Messi? What the hell was Peckerman thinking not putting him on? Clearly not a fan of the attack-is-the-best-form-of-defence school.

This can be a really fun game to follow and watch when Portugal's not involved.

crouch has played quite well since he came in. they really need to play him further up though. in many situations he's playing a lot further back than he really should be.

I'm quite drunk, so could anybody tell me why Rooney got sent off?

Seen the replays and i really struggle to find any kind of a legitamate(sp) stamp, although i am blinkered. I did see Ronaldo very clearly though straight away complain to the ref though.

Damn, Carragher blew it
That Portuguese keeper is fantastic.
Scolari has the Brits number, he must be hated in the UK after this one.

Yeah, sorry mate, I momentarily forgot England is a separate entity by itself for this one.

Nah, came from the lived-five-years-in-Germany, grew up playing the sport part of my soul. I wasn't able to watch but a few matches due to work, so participating in this thread really held little attraction for me.

Goodness knows I was pulling for England. How could anyone with an amount of self-respect pull for the other side?
