A little more perspective in this article.

Great read. Thanks for that.

Here's LaVar Arrington getting fired up over the Sandusky interview, which I admittedly haven't seen yet (not sure I want to).

Cowboys had NOTHING on D for Iowa St. on the game tying drive.

They just straight puckered in the final minutes.

As strongly as I felt that Okie St. couldn't finish undefeated, I felt just as strongly that I wanted them to. No matter how things go from here, if LSU does manage to win out (and that's no given), I doubt that their BCSNCG opponent will be fair.

I heard a scenario yesterday where LSU could lose to UGA in the SECCG and still play Bammer in the title game.

I think that's even more of a possibility with Okie St.'s loss.

That. Was. Awesome. I also love his smarmy apology.

UGA - SEC EAST CHAMPS!

Wow. Chip Kelly getting too cute with his no-huddle O. Could've used those TO's and won the game in regulation or at least given his kicker a chip shot. Instead he leaves it to his questionable kicker to hit a career long FG taking those last two TO's to the locker room. Major fuck up.

LSU/Bama redux. What's the under? 5?

November 19th, 2011.

Exhibit #348 why I love this fucking sport/religion.

Outside of the UGA game, I thought this weekend's slate of games was going to be a giant turd of a layover until next week. Instead, it shaped the entire year.

With apologies to Okie St. fans, the post-game speech the Iowa St. coach gave to his players, where he choked up at the very end, is honestly why I continue to be affected by this silly little game.

All the greatest virtues of it were on display this weekend; believing when no one thinks you can do it, never giving up, and perseverance.

This shit lets me down time and time again, but I keep coming back for weekends like this one.

In ways I understood what Chip was trying to do in using up as much clock as possible....but I couldn't believe that he wasn't going for the win - As a Husky fan, I know you saw how bad the Ducks kicker was just a few weeks ago. I just can't understand why we didn't take more shots at 6 points - too many sideline routes for 5-10 yards....if we were going to do that, I would have preferred that they kept handing off to Barner because he was getting that much right up the gut.

I fell asleep when that game was 31-14. Also, for educational purposes, I present this three tweet sequence from Tony Barnhart.

Quote:
Last SEC tiebreakre is BCS rank unless the top two teams are within five spots or less. Then it goes head to head to break the tie.

Example: If Ark beats LSU and the standings are 1. Ark, 2. Bama, 3. LSU. Then Bama goes because it beat Ark head to head

If Ark beats LSU and the standings are 1. Ark, 2 LSU, 3 Bama, then Arkansas goes beacause it beat LSU.

There's also only like one thin scenario where three SEC teams can get into the BCS games...

Quote:
BCS handbook says conference only gets three if two non-champs are ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in final BCS standings.

So LSU wouldl have to lose in SEC championship game to Georgia and still get into BCS title game with Alabama. Then the SEC could get three.

Also, outside of our two LSU fans, does anybody believe there's a chance in hell that LSU doesn't lose to either Arkansas or UGA? Not because they aren't good, just because it's college football.

Exactly. They were moving the ball at will over their last 2-3 drives.

Kelly is a great coach but I do think he tries too hard sometimes with the gimicky stuff. This was a time to play it more conventionally, use your timeouts to get your team into chip shot range, or like you said, win the damn game with 6.

Exactly what the season needed after two weeks of the Sandusky case. Even with all the distractions and pending NCAA investigations, Penn State stuck to their strengths (ground game, defense, kicker) for their second win in Columbus in the last four years. They've earned at least share of the division title, and the winner of next week's game at Madison will play Michigan State for the conference championship. At 9-3, they've already surpassed my on-the-field expectations. We'll just see what the future brings...
