Jesus christ, that's a horrible cover. I wouldn't listen to that on general principle.

Yeah, it's a shame because their last album was half amazing. I'm downloading it, but I'm not expecting to like it.

see what I mean: The single "Ponzi", released on March 29, 2011, shows a departure from the group's past roots-rock albums with a new electro, dancehall sound.

I'll give it a chance, but seems to me like they're really missing Simon(e).

I haven't heard a new Beastie Boys song since Hello Nasty. For some reason I bypassed that 2004 album and I think that's all they done since then, right?

I'm on the same track as you, man, haven't heard a thing since Hello Nasty

Color me morbidly curious.

I think To the 5 Boroughs was the last one they put out except for that instrumental album. And I actually really liked that one. IT had a great minimal old-school vibe musically that I thought was pretty great.

I always liked Beastie Boys OK but was never a huge fan. So my perspective may be off, but I like this as well as about anything of theirs. And really, the guys are just good, creative rappers who don't generally fall into cliche and have always had great interplay between them. Quality stuff. And the track with Santigold is pretty cool.

Nothing will ever top the combo of Paul's Boutique and Check Your Head for me and while I'll acknowledge a LOT of that has to do with time and place and age and all that, I don't think anything they have done or will do will ever approach Paul's Boutique creatively. It sits in that category of albums like Blonde On Blonde or Sticky Fingers where I can't even imagine people sitting around shitting out that much creative material day after after day and making it work as an album.

lump this one directly into the '11 disappointment pile along with Glasvegas.

I remember it having great beats, but kind of lame lyrics/rhymes. But its been 6 or 7 years since I've listened to it.

New Beasties surprised the hell out of me. I'm going back for another taste.

MIRACLE FORTRESS "WAS I THE WAVE?"

Been waiting on this one for a bit, and it pays off. Recommended to anyone feeling for a little wavy, ambient, wispy electronic pop, and the sound of Montreal in June. That's doing it injustice actually... RIYL: Caribou a bit, and a more languid Owen Pallett.

The main reason why I wanna check that out is to see if all the hype he's spouting is true. Bastard was okay, but if Yonkers is an indication of the rest of the album it's gonna be really good.

Quote:
Straight outta Ottumwa, Iowa! Billy Crystal Meth bring 74 minutes of crushing, sample-laden, instrumental doom. Straightforward and levelling, in the vein of Sloth and Noothgrush. For fans of all things heavy and stupid. CD, limited to 500, with artwork by Andrew Walter and Food Fortunata of Sockeye fame
