Which is why the Sabremetric stuff in baseball, and fantasy stuff in football sometimes needs to be thrown out the window and you go with your gut.

In this argument, I'd probably take Aikman over Brady, because I'm a Cowboys fan ;)

Well then you should trust me because I hate both teams!

I think stats are much more meaningful in baseball than in football. Baseball has some intangibles, but for the most part is fairly strait forward with stats. But as has been said several times in the last two pages, football is overwhelming with variables.

Its funny because statistically Aikman and Brady are fairly close after the same amount of years. Brady has the edge though in a few categories like total yardage. Plus Brady has 1 more SB. But my point is, how many people would pick Aikman in the top 5 OAt? In my mind, Brady is great, don't get me wrong. But he isn't a top 5'er yet.

Brady has a large to very large edge in yards, TDs, interception %, winning %, completion %

They're within 2000 yards of each other, Brady definitely has more TDs, but the other %s are within a percentage or two of each other. Not exactly the same but close enough for parallels to be drawn. Like I said, Brady is definitely one of the best, if not the best of the past 10 years--but definitely not OAT.

Derris, you & Stop Breathin' need to make a prop-bet:

if Saints win, you put 10 dollars a week for a year on the collection-plate at SB's parish; if Falcons win, SB pays for you to tongue-bathe a New Orleans's dancer's balloon-knot.

& speaking of prop-bets, South Pacific &/or Robotboy, any chance of putting anything on the line for Packers-Bears on January 2nd?

Matter of fact, Derris, I'm in my fastasy championship game and have "ya boy" Turner in my lineup. That being said, I hope the Saints slow him down considerably (don't think they'll stop him). Tony Gonzalez is a greater concern, as he shredded us in the first matchup. I think if we avoid turnovers, we win this one.

Ready for my medicine.

Most of the national media is going with the Saints and can't figure out why.

If not for that freak missed FG, Saints win that last one. But, Falcons were on the road andwon just about every statistical category in that game and ultimately in the one that matters; the scoreboard. I think it's going to get nasty in the Dome tonight. I haven't looked forward to a regular season game this much in a long time.

Falcons are everyone's "yeah they're good BUT...." team and I'm over it. Dismiss at your own peril. Especially at home.

I'm pretty pumped about this. NFL is different for me than CFB though. I hate all of LSU's rivals with the passion of a 1 million burning suns. I like most of the Saints rivals and just enjoy watching two good football teams compete. If it is not a black and gold superbowl, then I'm more than happy for Falcons to win it as I like Matt Ryan and Mike Smith.

I've been a part of a discussion in which we're all pretty ticked at how obviously good both these teams are, including Saints coming off of a Super Bowl win. However, the national media can't seem to get offa the collective Jets, Patriots, Eagles cock. Even the Vikings and the Favre demise have been much more "story worthy" than our teams.

Agreed. I didn't realize until today that if the Bears beat the Pack next week, they'll get the 2 seed in the NFC and bye week (assuming the Falcs take care of business tonight or against Carolina @ home).

Who saw that coming?

Not me, I fucking hate the Saints, Succaneers, and Panthers and for that matter, the Rams and 49'ers with a more or less equal disdain as Georgia's rivals.

Interested to see the gameplan as it would seem the Falcons will try to run a LOT since that's the Saints most glaring defensive weakness...that means they will probably come out throwing. Mularky is one tricky motherscratcher.

As usual, I'm terrified of the Saints big play ability (I think Moore just caught ANOTHER bomb from the first game), but looking for my man Grimes to jump something and get a pick.

yeah the NFL is way too unpredictable to bet with any kind of certainty, three-card Monty.

any given Sunday, pretty much any team has a chance of winning

that being said, I think the Packers are playing better than the Bears right now

they'll be playing at home, with Rodgers and Clay playing extremely well, and with a chance to make the playoffs so they'll definitely be motivated. If I didn't know better I'd say this game might even be a blowout.

Still hoping though that for the Pack that this is one of those days where everything goes wrong: Hester runs for two TD's off kick returns, Peppers gets 3 sacks, and Cutler goes berzerk and throws for 4 touchdowns.

hey, you never know

either way it is going to be an epic game, can't wait until Sunday

Switzerland is spared no quarter in the book. He fuh'd other coaches wives, tipped off Charles Thompson that the Feds were on to the MASSIVE cocaine ring he was running out of the Athletic Dorm, thus foiling half their case - and actually considered himself black.

I feel a certain kinship with the man.

Eagles playing the first Tuesday night game in 50 some years and I don't like that they are playing against a division rival with nothing to lose.

That there was a couple of quality pro-fessional football teams going at it. Kudos to the Saints: They made more plays when it counted.

See you in a couple weeks probly.
