I think it's strictly speculation at the moment, but this should happen anytime. Again, Go Frogs.

Here's an article that makes it still look possible that Ronaldo stays, but does state his dissatisfaction.

It's crunch time for Portugal, they got nine minutes to put one in. I haven't been able to watch the game, so I'm not sure what has gone down, but I'm surprised they subbed out Pauleta.

This game should be over.

VIVA LA FRANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This one is over, congrats to Zidane. Some MLS team should pay him not to retire.

I wish I still had pics of me as Zidane for Halloween in '02...the costume consisted of a jersey and a soccer ball, but still, it was sweet.

the penalty kick was complete bullshit.

wasn't this the same awful ref from the US v. Italy match?

Yes, it is the same ref.
I can't deny saying that I'm happy he didn't screw the team I was cheering for this time, and wonder how he was allowed to ref this game after how awful he was in the US/Italian match. It would have been like having Graham Poll ref the German/Italian match.

holy shit yes. i was exaggerating when i posted before about them flopping like fishes before, but portugal outdid themselves this time. i saw no fewer than three straight-up superman impersonations (i think two were ronaldo). it's embarassing, and worse, they really look like a team that has not a shred of emotional restraint.

on the other hand, zindane is the fucking man--he gets my vote to be the next james bond villian.

Yeah, Henry's behaviour of late has been pretty disgraceful.

Luiz Felipe is banging some hot Brasilena or Portuguesa, though. Gerald Mc Raney is banging Delta Burke. Louie wins.

So the greatest game on our planet was decided on penalty kicks; ITALY over FRANCE 5 to 3.
But if Zinedine Zidane had been there the outcome would have been different.

I think it's not absurd to say that Zidane, Henry, and Vieira all being out did have an impact on the France's performance on the GK's. Although saying that, it was Trezeguet hitting the crossbar (not anything Buffon did) that was the difference. What if that were Henry taking the kick. I thought France was the better team through most of the match... that is, as they say, the way the ball bounces...

france did look better from the second half on.

i'm glad italy won.

Trezeguet missing is appropriate.
