I decided to post some bowl projections again after a week of upsets and the top of the heap settling itself a bit.

I'll only post a few of the more interesting Obnerian school match ups with the link

http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootbal ... redictions

Orange Bowl: Miami, Fla vs Penn State
Rose Bowl: Oregon vs Iowa
Sugar: Alabama vs Cincinnati
Alamo: Michigan vs Oklahoma
Liberty: Houston vs Georgia
Gator: Virginia Tech vs Notre Dame
Sun: Oregon State vs Kansas
Holiday: California vs Nebraska
Texas: Indiana vs Navy

Not sure we have a chance to remedy this. We have only two or three run plays: the maligned draw*, a toss sweep left/right and off tackle. If the line can't block their assignments then the run game suffers. I admit, I haven't conciously watched the O-Line to see if we're running any traps with pulling guards to create a little misdirection, but judging by the basic inability to run and Bobo's ultra-conservatism, I'm guessing we're not doing anything more than basic run block.

Our problems are inumerable. I'm glad we won 34-10 yesterday, but Vandy is just plain atrocious. I'm now convinced Georgia Tech will be harder to beat than Florida. Derris may drive up here and disembowel me just for saying that.

*draw only works if you have established the running game in the first place and the D isn't able to predict every play our O runs.

It's OK, Stu, Looks like we have a date in Memphis and The Liberty Bowl!

(I am sick enough to think that sounds pretty righteously declasse)

I believe last week after the loss to the Vols you were projected into Shreveport, I'd relish that trip to Memphis over any trip to that Poulan Weedeater Bowl.

Nashville is nigh respectable compared to Memphrica of FAILport.

I'd sign up for the Holiday Bowl right now, because, to be honest, I don't see us even being that highly regarded by the end of the year. Hopefully, I'm just overreacting to our horrible offensive performance, but I just don't see us putting up enough points to beat teams like OU or KU (or even CU, for that matter).

Barney Cotton (the only remaining tie to Bill Callahan) needs to be gone. Our offensive line is more to blame than Shawn Watson's play calling.

Watson is the only tie left to Callahan, Cotton is a Solich era coach. I must say that while the O-line clearly sucked yesterday, Lee made absolutely no effort to look down field and throw long. I don't know if that has anything to due with Watson's play calling or not, but the overall offensive game plan in both losses this year has been suspect. Even in our victory against Mizzou last week, we had announcers questioning us all night about why we weren't simply running the ball in the first half.

If Cody Green is going to be the QB now, they need to open up the playbook a bit and let him run. He'll make some mistakes and throw costly picks, but at least he'll keep a defense honest.

Lee doesn't seem to be tough enough in the pocket and goes down way to easy. Even when given all the time in the world, he has a frazzled look to his play.

Depending on how the season ends, I think we may need to bring in a few new offensive coaches. We're not seeing the play makers at Wide Receiver come to play here and need the offense to match the same sort of mental toughness that the Defense is playing with this season.

Yep. He was an All-Big Eight Offensive Linesmen at Nebraska in the late 70's. He went on to play NFL Football for the Bengals and Cardinals, before a career ending knee injury.
He has coached college ball for a while now being an Offensive Line Coach and Offensive Coordinator at Nebraska, Iowa State and New Mexico State.

His kid plays TE for Nebraska now.

Sadly, I'm inclined to agree with you. First, yes, Vandy is plain terrible as evidenced by their loss to ARMY and the fact their only wins are over W. Carolina and Rice (who are winless). We still have trouble making adjustments as evidenced by them going no huddle on their first drive in the 2nd half and marching down the field.

Second, our D has shown to be woefully undisciplined at times and you HAVE to have discipline to beat the triple option. Florida has better talent than almost every team that they play but they still run a more traditional offense than Tech which teams can scheme for. You simply can't out-scheme the triple option when it's run to perfection. You just have to play smart defense. I honestly think the most overlooked thing about UF is their D. I think they've won more games because of their defense than they have because of Tebow but they usually win because they just have better players.

I am now a huge Virginia fan. Many a great Tech team has been derailed in Charlottesville for whatever reason.

Coaches Poll

I'm a little surprised to see Alabama #1 in the AP, and both Kansas and OU ranked after this week. I thought the Big 12 North would be absent from the polls, and that the Sooners would be gone with that third loss.

Truly sloppy game from the Gators all the way around. Spikes getting hurt early had a major impact on the face of that game.

I'm not. Alabama has the best Defense in the country IMO and a legit Heisman candidate in Ingram. (Fun fact: Bama has NEVER had a Heisman winner which boggles the mind)

They have struggled offensively at times but when you're that good on D, your offense has more opportunity to score and THEIR defense is on the field all night after their offense goes 3 and out several times. As much as I hate to say it, this was the "scare" weekend for both Bama and Florida. They're going to meet in Atlanta where I think Bama wins (although I think LSU could test Bama if they can get their Offense cooking)

OU still in the Top 25 is a joke. There shouldn't be points for moral victories in a loss.

Brain lapse on my part... was still in disarray after the pathetic showing by our offense. I think it's a combination of Watson's play-calling, Lee's indecisiveness, and our offensive line's lack of attitude (mental toughness). Green would be interesting, and I think we'll see a lot of him in the next two games, even if he doesn't start. That interception he threw was ugly, but at least he took some shots downfield and can run with some purpose. On a positive note, our defense is still impressive to me!!!

More Bowl projections:

http://espn.go.com/college-football/bow ... 009&week=7

Bruce Feldman thinks two mid-majors will make BCS games and Mark Schlabach thinks Alabama will win the SEC and meet Texas in the title game.

Georgia projected to go to either Music City or Chic Fil A.
Nebraska the Sun or Alamo
Notre Dame the Gator Bowl
Navy the Texas Bowl
and
LSU the Cotton and Capital One.

http://cfn.scout.com/2/910601.html

They like Miami vs Notre Dame in the Orange
Cincinnati making the Sugar against Bama
Houston and Georgia meeting up in Memphis
Nebraska in the Holiday.

This is more likely, with Chic Fil A being the bowl of choice.
