What's funny is that you have such overwhelmingly shitty taste that you wouldn't even know if its good or not. You've essentially done to your brain what a methy does to their teeth. Poor guy.

Yail, don't get those panties in a bunch.

I guess it just sounds very silly to me. Lyrically and musically.

after 2 songs, Radio Dept has a kind of Belle & Sebastian / The Clientele feel to it

Go fix yourself a Cumtini and listen to DJ Olaf's set from Club Dungeon at the Rainbow Room, Dale.

I only had a chance to listen to it once even though I've already heard the live versions of the songs...

I like "Birthday Boy", "I Told You So" "Santa Fe" and "Eyes Like Glue"

Not feeling a lot of the Patterson songs but that is typical; they usually don't grab me until like six months after the fact.

Overall, it's aight...I'm withholding full judgment until I hear the CD or vinyl on my front porch @ top volume.

The only thing that kind of surprised me was the early descriptions suggesting it would be a return to a heavier sound, and much like Hood's powerpop album, it didn't quite match up to what I heard this morning. Still great though, I look forward to the hard copy. And 'Drag the Lake Charlie' reminds me how much I love songs about drowning.

I think the most disturbing thing was that some of the production reminded me of the last Isbell album--an album I compared to the work of Kenny Wayne Sheperd

dude, i give everything a chance.

DBT are one of those bands that get a lot of praise (on here), and i'll always check out their albums to see if i can dig on it.

listened on the way home from work, and 4 songs in, it just felt silly. i didn't hate it btw.

Fair enough, although it would seem that if you haven't enjoyed the band or the genre overall the likelihood of you digging a new one would be slim. But I'm not gonna bag on you for something that I also get shit about (listening to everything). I actually listened to Deerhunter (I didn't hate it either but I couldn't see revisiting yet didn't delete it) and Yeasayer (never made it past song 4, affective response was somewhere between mild rage and frustration at the wasted time for something so abysmal) recently just to see what folks be hearing.

Overall, I'm really liking the new DBT. However, track #5 really reminded me of the song Belvedere from the Patterson solo album.
