Oh puh-leeze. I'm sorry it rained on y'all, but seriously--how does anyone with a straight face compare this storm to a tidal wave that killed more than 200,000 people? Fer cryin' out loud, they'll have the power back on by Friday so y'all can still watch NASCAR.

i've had to delete my response to this twice..so i'll be diplomatic...

i don't think the people whose lives were just ruined in this storm are worrying about nascar or a little rain. get a clue, dude.

Also, I don't know if anyone has really succeeded in making you feel like an ass yet, but some optimistic projections for restoring power in many of the affected areas are aiming for late September.

But I'm sure you already knew that, right?

Well, good for you. The mayor of Biloxi made an unforunate, possibly insensitive, hyperbolic statement, but you totally managed to one-up him.

oh, that was the point? i came to a completely different one: that your original comment was utterly foolish.

this insensitive little remark could end up into a cute cliche, like "rule of thumb", which was a rule of stick circumference measurement you couldn't exceed to beat your wife with.

let's try it -- in april, i railed a deer at 80mph. it was my tsunami.

edit: Also, why did the cover of Afghan Whigs's 1965 and a profile shot of Lucius Harris (NY Nets) come up for "man vs. nature" on Google image-search?

I didn't realize that N.O got hit so hard. The inital reports I was hearing was that there weren't any breaches in the levees and that only parts of the city had 6ft< of water. I just read that half the city is now under 20ft of water.

Through proper diet and exercise, you should be able to pull yourself out of that easy chair in a matter of weeks.

My mom has a friend who's daughter works at the Tulane hospital and she said that the enitre first floor is flooded and they were down to a few hours of generator power. Many patients were being evacuated via helicopter as we speak.

Apparently a 2nd levee broke this morning.
