Um....

Arrested Development. Period.

Nothing else comes close, espec. with Curb/OC this season...

It's the one show I never miss.

Don't watch much in the way of talking heads anymore. I used to love The McLaughlin Group back in it's prime, when Pat Buchanan, Jack Germond, Freddy "Beatle" Barnes and MorTON Kondracke were on. Is it any good now? Anybody remember a SNL takeoff on The McLaughlin Group, called The Sinatra Group, moderated by Joe Piscopo doing The Chairman of the Board? "Issue one" who would you rather nail; Ava Gardener or Mia Farrow? I disqualify myself since I nailed 'em both"

Don't get any of the HBO or other US channels that has The Wire and other interesting programs. Heard nothing but good things about it.

Forgot about Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Vincent D'Onofrio is very good.

Without him, the show's just another Law & Order. It's one of the most eccentric and endlessly amusing performances I've seen on TV. He finds new ways to invade suspects' personal space each week, his body language is more reptilian than human, he's remarkable at restrained menace and even better at post-arrest disgust - where you realize he despises most of the criminals and is only holding that in to do his job.

A fascinating actor.

I would actually say The Office is overrated and unwatchable.

Pure, unmitigated crap.

I drove past filming for The Wire today. Sweet. Also, season two, filmed a chunk like a block from my place (rebuildingmadison.info, not me but a neighbor).

I don't have tv so I am behind on such things but it's the only still-on show I get the dvds of.

The resurrected Doctor Who I like a hell of a lot, too.

Also Nip/Tuck and The Dead Zone.

Merkin or British? The British is much better (although many of the cultural references go over my head).

Or so I've heard.

Arrested Development is easily my favorite right now. Also...

Scrubs
The Office
Ali G Show

I used to like the OC, but I think beyond the first and maybe half of the second season, it's been boring, predictable crap. It's the same storyline over and over.

Best show on TV?

Who cares but Obner likes to talk about things other than music, like this thread it is more than 4 pages while a music topic is lucky to get 3 so...

the real answer is Baseball Tonight

I pretty much hate TV, or more appropriate the idiot box!

US version. The UK version is much, much better, I would agree. Much to do with Robbie Gervais.

I tried giving the US version a shot, but after several episodes where I just sat there wondering who the funny one was supposed to be, I tuned out. I tried it again a couple of weeks ago and pretty much the same thing. Horrible.

Perhaps you should contact the proper authorities. Or better yet, see if you own a belt that can support your weight when suspended from a shower curtain rod.

I'm sorry it makes you so uncomfortable that quite a few of us lead fulfilling multi-dimensional lives. Perhaps our New Year's Resolution should be to lay down our own cultural and political interests in order to make you shut the fuck up.

I'd much rather see topics across wide and varied topics than the same chronic masturbator sending up thread after thread about the Boo Radleys. The short history of this board and CMJ has shown time and time again that is the preferred course for discussion. You've lost this one. Deal with it.

Arrested Development followed closely by Lost.

Check, Please! (locally-produced show where 3 ordinary people recommend their favorite restaurants, go and eat at each others' reccommendations, and then have a round-table review session, mediated by master sommalier Alpata Singh.

I guess they have other versions in other cities, too.

Veronica Mars is top-notch TV. It's a must-see show every week for my wife and I. Some of the smartest writing on TV is on this show - and that includes Lost, whose writers seem to spend more time finding ways to not reveal things to you, while VM's writers just get on with the story and there's an actual sense of progression from episode to episode. (Not that I don't love Lost, but I'm just a bit annoyed, like many others, that we aren't seeing a whole lot of actual progress in the story.)

Others I go out of my way to make time for:
Arrested Development
The Office
My Name is Earl
Gilmore Girls

Everybody Hates Chris would be on this list because I think it's a great show, but I lost track of it after a handful of episodes because of Survivor. Looking forward to the DVD set to catch up.
