This new song is their equivalent of U2's "Vertigo." Tries so hard to be kick-ass, it sounds goofy, calculated, and sterile. I like the lyrical point of both songs, but the execution is limp.

I'm quite proud of the fact of never having knowingly listened to a Pearl Jam song.

Does this mean you're proud of having no idea whether or not any of their songs are good and have accepted the fact that they're not simply because they're aging rockers with rabid fans? Or am I offbase?

It's just that there are generally reasons why "classic" rock bands get revered. Somewhere before the myth-making, blind loyalty and inevitable assumption that they suck, there are usually some very good songs.

I pre-ordered the new album, and today it showed up on my doorstep with the New Year's bootleg. After 3 listens I'm diggin' it. The artwork is pretty odd inside, with all their heads stacked looking all decayed and whatnot.

I pre-ordered as well and got to download the entire local PJ show here in SK, which was pretty damn good.

I had no idea this was coming out Tuesday. I thought it came out the 23rd for some reason. I was about to say how shocked I was that FR got it a month in advance.

Yeah, I got mine in the mail yesterday, with the New Year's '92 disc. I like it so far, but haven't had a lot of time to listen to it yet. The artwork is very weird, though it's a great package design.

I heard this when I was in Tower Records yesterday. It sounded like it might actually be a better album than Binaural. I still can't see myself buying it, but it's cool if they've managed to recover from the downward trajectory of the previous two records.

Yeah this is a resurrection of sorts of my PJ fandom. I was a huge fan and got burned out and slowly have come back over the years. This album though is fairly good. I agree the artwork is fairly odd, something more I'd expect out of Tool, but hey whatever. One thing with PJ, it seems like they genuinely spend time (or Eddie), with trying to figure out how art will accompany the album. No Code was my favorite just because of the vastness of the art.
