I have a pretty extensive history with this. We used to bomb this really shady bar down the street from me in Pittsburgh that was like 300 yards away form my friends' roof. We'd just nail the bounder (who looked uncannily like the lead guy in "Once Were Warriors" (smart right), who would just start smashing shit and shaking his fists into the night scky like Donkey Kong. We generally referred to it as "shocking the monkey" and did it like 3 times a week for 2 years.

I had to stop doing this...a few summers ago, we were lauching em at family party and my little cousin took one in the face...I get this guilty feeling everytime I see one of those things.

no, we had cops come once but we just feigned ignorance. The rooftop we had was actually the building next to my friends' and we had a big tree for cover. Shit, just thinking about the amount of crap we destroyed from that rooftop makes me want to issue a public apology to North Oakland.

It was the best when like a gaggle of slutty girls (or "slamhounds, as the syle was to refer to them in that era) would leave the bar at like 11 all dolled up only to have a fucking BARRAGE of water ballons fall from the sky upon them. There'd be like 8 dudes up on a roof trying very hard not to make any noise laughing.

shocking the monkey - nice. we used to set up a water balloon launcher at this place on the coast where we were on top of about a 500 hundred foot cliff and we would pick people off on the beach below. we never had a direct hit (probably a good thing) but scared the shit out of a lot of people.

oddly, my girlfriend is a major proponent of bringing this back into usage. It was one of ht elike 11 phrases we used constantly from '98-'01

Man this talk of waterballoons takes me back. That was summer fun. In the winter we hucked snowballs at cars in hopes some fucking maniac would chase us, which was stupid in retrospect. We just assumed we would never get caught. We did crack one dudes back window with a well-crafted iceball.
