Moving onto the advanced round of seating ettiquette, what are the seating assignments if Squirggel, First Mate and Neuroboy go to dinner?

At a booth? FM and I on one side, NB on t'other.

At a 4-top table? Me with FM tangentally on one side and NB on the other I guess.

yeah, the third wheel at a booth is always by themselves with the couple sitting together.

(this actually worked out quite nicely for me yesterday. i was having dinner with two friends before a show. they were on one side. i was on the other. a single lady that they know walked over. they invited her to sit down. she and i started chatting. the show was decent.)

scintillating thread guys, glad to see it's gone strong all day.

Also, lovely to see the usual inflexible wisemen and nobles speaking about how inconceivable it is that others live their lives differently from them.

How dare they.

Hmm...I never would've thought that sitting side-by-side equated to romance. What if it's a first date? Or, "I'm still trying to figure out if I even wanna be intimate with you" date?

And from what I'm gathering, at a fine dining establishment, you'll sit across or in the chair directly to the right or left of a 4 seat table. But, at the booth-style restaurant, it's about sitting side-by-side in order to eat of your mate's plate.

And, Mick, there are no booths at casual dining restaurants? Interesting...

I would think it would be harder to share food sitting side-by-side.

God. Why is this the only thread I'm posting in today?

Speaking of, Derris, I thought we mixed up the seating arrangement nicely when we went out with our chicks for my birthday...

I alway sit across from a date/girlfriend. I am left handed and everyone I have dated was a righty. I also usually order a significant amount of food, and I never ask for a large booth or table. Being a conversationalist, I don't really want to sit next to a girlfriend when we are alone and eating together.
