Before destruction - it sounds like this is going to be the "weirder follow up record"

This is just a retarded stance to take. It's fine if you don't like Spoon, but trying to pretend like they've abandoned some original gameplan or somehow watered down their sound is ridiculous.

Fake edit: oh nevermind, I just saw it was Opa who posted that.

so far I like it, I like that it sounds like they took the demos and ran them through a delay program

Yeah, it's an oddly subdued way to start. It gets extremely cool once you get to "Who Makes Your Money" though, and then gets pretty awesome the rest of the way until they hit "Got Nuffin'", which still hasn't really settled with me. Then the last song brings the awesome again.

Yeah, I just poured a drink and put it on, I'm liking the first track right off the bat. The second isn't thrilling yet the last 30 seconds has me yanking. Track three on now and I'm still here and loving it.

And I'm not saying this to throw down a gauntlet but I didn't make it through Beach House this morning, and I had it on during a goddamn unbelievable sunrise.

Overall, I say it's pretty snappy and look forward to more plays. That's all I'm taking for now though.

First listen, and I like it. I'm not sure I'd say it's back to basics but the sound is more raw. Seems a lot more jaded in songwriting content than Gax5 as well.

My favorite tracks were "I Saw the Light" and "Trouble Comes Running."

Thanks. I wouldn't say this starts slow, it's just that it ends so amazingly well that the first few tracks seem weak in comparison. Such a great record.

gave this a proper listen in the car drive down to my fathers today. there's 4 decent tracks, and the rest just don't do anything for me.
