The Packers playing in it would pain me a lot more. I got no beef with the Tejanos.

As for the Cowboys, I've got them going 10-6. They have a ton of OL injuries right now, so they will lose the opener at Washington. They'll probably still win the NFC East, and at worst get a Wild Card, but no Super Bowl. Probably a very similar postseason to last year. Win the opening round game and get their asses handed to them in the next round.

People - especially the media - are just gaga over the Packers. I agree they will be good, possibly even very good, but they seem to be the overwhelming consensus favorite this year, which seems a bit much.

That being said, it's hard to see anyone else in the NFC making the Super Bowl. The Saints are talented, but will have a letdown. Favre won't replicate his miraculous performance of last year - especially with his main target (Sid Rice) out for at least half the season. The Panthers and 49ers will both be a lot better than most people think, but neither QB is good enough to take them on an extended playoff run. That leaves the Falcons and Giants (I rule out the Eagles, because even though Kolb ain't bad, he's not good enough). Eli will never, ever, ever play up to the level of his inexplicable playoff performance a couple of years ago. But Matty Ice, on the other hand...

OK, I have convinced myself the Falcons will make the Super Bowl, where they will be taken down by the Colts.

We stole that game against the Lions today.

Ridiculous.

I had visions of the Falcons playoff win in Lambeau running thru my head -- & it was a game I didn't even see, only read about after the fact, since that was during my time in the former East Bloc. Glad the Pack pulled it out, then.

Doubly glad that my man-crush on Cutler is holding up, too. Best QB performance in the NFC North, Week 1.

So, did I. I still have nightmares from that game...the only playoff game I've ever been too...it was painful.

Thanks for admitting that.
If I wasn't a fairweather Lions fan due to all the former huskers on that team, I probably wouldn't have cared, but it is utter nonsense to have a rule that negates a one handed touchdown catch because he can't maintain possession after he hits the ground. If the ball can't cause a fumble in the field of play, it shouldn't effect whether or not he actually caught the ball before it came loose due to his hand/the ball hitting the ground in the end zone.
The BCS might be a joke, but for the most part NCAA officials rarely job a team out of a legitimate touchdown by using replay and a questionable interpretation of a ridiculous rule.

Fucking classic.
I laughed hard upon seeing this.
If that fumble return for a touchdown didn't drive the poor man insane, he might actually being able to take a loss without going into full meltdown mode.
It's Loogar that I fear for right now.

I'm more likely to beat a random stranger with a spiked bat than hang myself, but it has not been a good weekend for football.

Alex Barron lol.
He might end up like Billy Batts or Nicky Santoro when he returns to the Big D.
I bet FT will even dig the hole for it.

holy shit, Julius Peppers nearly took Stafford's arm off today

I forget which idiot here said that he wasn't going an impact player and that Bears wasted their money on him after acquiring him from Carolina this year but he was dead wrong. Peppers looks like a beast.

After watching most of that Redskins-Cowboys game I feel pretty good about the Bears' chances in Dallas next week.

Jim Mora announcing the Falcons game yesterday--a little painful.

"Yeah, we drafted that guy, he's got great talent...too bad we had no idea what we were doing" etc. etc.
