You don't feel bad, or it wasn't a dive?

Robben should have had a PK at the end of the first half....

Robben might have gone down theatrically but it was still a penalty. It was a stupid challenge from Marquez which was a shame since he'd had a great tournament up till then.

Perhaps Robben made such a meal of it due to having had various other good penalty claims turned down. He could also have easily drawn a penalty earlier in the second half but instead vaulted over the defenders tackle and took a shot.

As I said elsewhere on the internet when discussing the Pepe/Muller incident, there is a difference between diving when there is no contact and 'highlighting' a foul to insure the retard refereeing the match actually notices it.

No, I don't feel a bit bad for Mexico.

And I don't think it was a dive. He was fouled and then embellished the fall. Still a foul though.

Agreed, but he has a penchant for this, and it drives me crazy. He's not the only one obviously, but it's just a part of the game that annoys me.

Sounds like Altidore can go tomorrow...hopefully Kompany is out!

although one of the best defenders in the world when healthy, kompany's the least of my concerns. their front 3 are what fantasy league wet dreams are made of.

They are very talented, but our D has been playing well and Howard is a game-changer.

We will need goals though, because I don't see us keeping a clean sheet.

agreed on all fronts, but i'd add our D is much better when Cameron is way off the fucking pitch. he makes me nervous in friendlies. i just hope we play w/ the same kind of aggression & fearlessness that we displayed against portugal. that was actually some pretty & inspiring footie.

I've enjoyed the shit out of this tournament. Win or lose tomorrow, the US has shown it can play on the world stage again. That said, if they do win, I believe it will pay enormous dividends for the future of the sport here. The numbers already show that the sport is growing faster than any other.

That said, until Atlanta officially fields it's MLS team, I have a hard time watching it when not draped in the American flag.

Then again, that's how I approach sports in general; I need a team to ride or die with.

This is how I was back in the mid 2000's...so I decided if I was going to follow the Premier league, I needed a team. I latched onto Arsenal because I liked how they played. I watch every game they play now. COYG

ha paper! i named my first-born after arsenal's top striker of late 90s-mid 00s.

i'm shocked the soccer bug didn't bite back in '02 - that's when i expected a dramatic shift. alas, nothing. and i don't expect much of an uptick after this one. americans like to whip out their patriotic cock when we compete on the world stage, then we typically fuck off until the next BIG event. and if you're enjoying this WC you're not going to be satisfied w/ the MLS product. it's a small notch north of college soccer. the MLS cup game is hilarious & frustrating to watch - i keep watching since sporting KC usually makes a deep run & i'm a fan of all KC-based franchises.

US has never had a better chance to do something in a World Cup.

The bottom half of the knock out draw is pretty poor and all the better teams are in the top half, in fact some of them are already out.

Argentina have been absolutely appalling in every game and Australia showed the Dutch don't like a team of fighters pressing them.

Many of the top players look exhausted from long club seasons and the temperatures in Brazil mean slow paced matches.

It's all there for you guys to take advantage of.

Poor match from the United States. They had a bit of a go in the final 10 minutes of extra time but why wait until you are 2-0 down and on the verge of elimination?

Really, if Belgium had a decent finisher it could have been 4, 5, 6-0 in 90 minutes.

It's one thing to sit back and defend but they didn't even do it well, luckily for them Belgium where just as bad in attack as the US was in defence.

If they had shown a bit more ambition in normal time they might have had something to show for it but they didn't and I think that was a big mistake as Belgium didn't look very comfortable when put under pressure.

A good chance spurned I'd suggest by overly negative tactics.

Yeah, really poor effort. Any time your goalie is called on to make that many saves, you are doing it wrong.

Even so, Wondo missed a sitter that would have won it.

Wondo repeats his Gold Cup gaffe. He's awful even if he was "offsides."

Two things;

1. The entire USMNT was just terrible from point blank range the entire World Cup.
2. Michael Bradley is the Bode Miller of American soccer.

Kon has it. We started this thing off positively against Ghana by putting people forward and playing aggressively. As soon as Altidore went down, we sat back and played a defensive posture. In america, Jurgen, we call that "playing not to lose". It doesn't often work, and it didn't this time.
