My dad's good friend (and pusherman) is best friends with a guy who's (Celine Dion's lawyer, but more importantly) good friends with Danny Federici of the E Street Band. This connection has proven useful on many an occasion.

My great uncle lived a few doors down from where "little Richie" Gere grew up. I got to meet him, Cindy, and other family folk when I was younger. Nice people.

Margaret Mead was my Dad's first proper boss, which is kinda cool, I guess. I mean, if you're into trustfund anthropology and all.

I got to sit at a rather large table with Colin Powell after my Dad delivered a prayer at Arlington Cemetary at a commemoration for Gulf War soldiers who died in combat. That was kinda surreal, but nowhere near as cool as hanging out with Ian MacKaye. :)

I interned at the DNC in 1996 for a month in Chicago. Plenty of "wow, politicians are really tall/short" moments. But I mostly spent my time hooking up with the other interns.

Have twice run into Julie of Real World IX: New Orleans fame, once at Kinko's in Greenfield (June or July '01), again at Tosa-fest (Sept '04). If it happens a third time, but that third time being within the next two years, I am going to ask her to marry me on the spot. I mean, it'll have been fated... I'm not stalking her, yet in this big metro area, I run into three times, not at all close together? Uncanny.

Cashiered an order of soda and pop-corn for Dan Gadzuric and his date (?) at the cineplex. They were seeing The Interpretor.

Met Russ Feingold at a dinner shortly before he won election to the U.S. Senate in '92.

Met the winner of 2001 Jeopardy! College Tournament - coeducational student from Loyola-Chicago - at the College Bowl academic tournament at UW-Whitewater, Feb. '02.

Met the drummer from Citizen King - locally (MKE) famous - at Nicolet High School, March '06.

Again, though -
