Thanks for this. I was morbidly curious. Black Keys, Sir Paul, JT Earle, Nick Lowe, Modest Mouse, MMJ, Cee Lo, and the Detroit Cobras acquit themselves proudly. Lou Reed, Kid Rock, and Graham Nash are as awful as one would expect. And the Hot Mess Award goes to Julian Casablancas.

that Cee Lo and Detroit Cobras are probably my faves on it.

Detroit Cobras are my favorite as well. JT Earle and Macca probably next. McCartney's vocals were a pleasant surprise that harkened back to Do It in the Road, just dirty rock vocals.

I can't wrap my around Casablanca and Lou Reed's songs yet.

This was just forwarded, so I thought I'd pass it along. Still haven't heard it.

...and for good measure, the debut from 2007.

This was on Jack Rabid's (Big Takeover) best records of the year as well as John Borack's best power pop records of all-time. This record is nothing short of a clinic in sheer pop velocity.

Here are a couple of quotes I found :

If The Red Button had been around in the '60's when I was producing I would have signed them to EMI.
- Norman Smith-Beatles engineer (1962-1966) and record producer (Pink Floyd/Pretty Things) for EMI

Pop music the way God, Paul and John had intended.

- John Borack - Goldmine Magazine

Just when I think I've mined the past for anything worthwhile a band like this pops up. Thanks mc, good stuff.

I was a big fan of his debut, We Have Sound (2005). This is his follow-up

Norm MacDonald's new comedy disc.

Not very funny, if you ask me, and pretty damn offensive towards the end. :wanker:

I'll agree with this, partly. Below is a description from a The War on Drugs thread:

Autumnal, atmospheric "indie rock" influenced by Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan and The Band.

Check out their 2008 record, Wagonwheel Blues, which for my money is unfuckwithable.
