A classy but frustrating group that never put out a truly sterling album, though Flaunt The Imperfection came very close. Sometimes brilliant, sometimes limp, always immaculate in their clever synthpop, a tenner is right for them because most Obners would find the full releases a bit too Style Council. I always hoped they had another Flaunt in them but they never did.

Did anyone do a Nilsson tenner yet?
I'd love to see one!

I want to make a GY!BE, Mono, and Explosions tenner, but I fear that 10 of their songs would make for a rather long Tenner. Can we say that tenners from these guys can actually be Fivers? Would that be acceptable to everyone?

ALSO, has anyone done a Silver Jews tenner? I was just reading some stuff about them and want to hear more. I didn't see one in my quick scan of the uploads sticky.

The Dogs

This probably won't be anyone's favorite tenner, but this band proved that France wasn't just standing by watching as the rest of the world exploded with punk and noo wave in the late 70s/early 80s. They progressed quite quickly, moving from the brittle punk of their debut and ending up at a place that was a commercially doomed mix of punk, pop, glam, and a 50s sock hop. Singer Dominique Laboubée died in 2002.

I'd like to do one. I wasn't going to make any more of these after the one I did last night (which hopefully I'll put up tonight), but Silver Jews would be fun.

Mediafire was down for maintenance when i got home late last night. I started an upload this morning but my computer decided to restart to install updates while i was in the shower and I didn't have time to restart the upload process before heading into the office.

I should be able to get to it tonight or tomorrow morning.

I was going to make one but am missing key albums so I didn't think it'd be a fair representation, plus mine would probably be too heavy on Tanglewood Numbers.

Would anyone be interested in a GRANDADDY tenner?

Which ones are you missing? I could up them.

My mix will definitely be heavy on the first four albums with probably one inclusion each from the last two.

Count me in.

A long time ago people used to tell me how great they were. Not knowing where to start and not asking anyone, I grabbed and album (Sumday, I think it's called) and have to say I was really really bored by it. I am open to hearing more.

Yeah, everything they did before Sumday was way better, IMO. You could make a pretty killer mix out of just Gandaddy B-sides and EP tracks from about '96 - '00.

Yes, because listening to one album from a band with multiple albums is ultimately analogous to eating out of toilets. Good one, moron.

haha. I was 50/50 on what your intent was, so I went with the defensive route, just in case. Quite an interesting manner of expressing your thoughts on the band.
