I'm not sure tbh, but it sounds fine.

2nd play now, loving "Song For Dan Treacy", "Siberian Breaks", and "Lady Dada's Nightmare".

It's only 69.5MB so I'm guessing it's not the best rip. Still, looking forward to listening.

The Splinters - Kick

Image

After spending the past couple of years charming the Bay Area (and beyond) with their infectious garage-pop nuggets, The Splinters are finally ready to present their debut full-length album. Kick was recorded in late 2009 with Maus Haus frontman Jason Kick, and finds the girls sounding better than ever. Over the course of 12 songs - most of which only last about two minutes - Ashley, Caroline, Courtney, and Lauren navigate a fun-filled journey that references ’60s girl groups, riot grrrl art-punk, and rough-around-the-edges garage rock. Kick is the first album to be released on Double Negative in more than two years, and we can’t think of another band in the Bay Area we’d be happier to share with the world.

Song for Dan Treacy sounds like Pete Doherty on a mid 60s Stones/Floyd bender. And I mean that in a GOOD way.

This is what I expected out of these dudes: Drug Rock. And I mean that in the BEST WAY POSSIBLE.

After only one listen, I totally agree: These guys are drug addicts who love pop music. You'll get no beef from me on either.

Quote:
Following through on 2008’s devastating one-two punch (January’s Tintype & August’s Funeral Mixtape), we kill computers is the Pack a.d.’s third album and it marks a bold departure away from the blues and headfirst into straight up garage rock/pop/punk. Recorded live off the floor to analog tape at Hive Studios in Vancouver by Jesse Gander (Japandroids, Bison b.c.) and then mastered at GhettoRecorders in Detroit by Jim Diamond (Dirtbombs, Detroit Cobras), we kill computers is a rapid fire assault of 13 heavy, heavy songs.

When The Pack a.d. plays a show they hand the audience their guts - and they did just, 157 times in 2009 alone. That’s why we kill computers, a full year in the making, captures that same live energy – fierce, unapologetic, and loud as hell. Lyrically, The Pack a.d. offers up their general mistrust of humans and their motives, while tipping off that animals have got it right. Sonically charged and relentless, The Pack a.d. don’t play a song so much as attack it - and we kill computers is them coming at you at a run.

What pushed me into downloading was that they played live 157 times last year. That's the kind of working class band I can get behind.

Beware the Star Wars belt.

If you two like it, I'll give it a chance, but until then, I'm judging this book by its cover.

I'm getting a pretty heavy Of Montreal vibe from this. Granted, one listen.
