So ESPN & Wilbon are reporting that RichRod is fired. That's stupid.

He might be, but he won a title in his 2nd year at OU. Urban Meyer is the only one ND's wish list that has won a BCS crown.
Given ND's recent history of shitty defense and their relatively weak schedule next year, a guy like Stoops could probably get the Irish to a BCS Bowl.
The Irish faithful have to be honest with themselves, the chances of them winning another title are slim to none. The academic rigor of the school makes them absolutely no competition for the SEC Powers. The best the Irish should really ever hope for is getting embarrassed in a BCS game like they did with Weis at the start of his stint at ND.

my sources tell me harbaugh is being heavily courted

Wasn't Ty Willingham at Stanford before coming to Notre Dame? I'm just throwing that out there, since the Cardinal aren't exactly who I look to find a coach that can win a title.

It really sounds like Mangino is a grade A douchebag.

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4669621

Former Kansas wide receiver Raymond Brown, a senior last season, said Mangino would often "say personal, hurtful, embarrassing things in front of people."

Brown cited two examples. He said that once, his younger brother had been shot in the arm in St. Louis. Then came a game.

"I dropped a pass and [Mangino] was mad," Brown said. "And I said, 'Yes, sir. Yes, sir.' The yelling didn't bother me. But then he said, 'Shut up!' He said, 'If you don't shut up, I'm going to send you back to St. Louis so you can get shot with your homies.

promo, did you ever play organized sports after age 15? i think you're being a bit too naive here. the coaching hasn't changed, the kids & the times have. this is hardly newsworthy.

I wrestled in high school and helped coach wrestling during my undergrad era. I see coaches poke and grab kids roughly all the time, but I have never heard of a successful coach openly call out a player by telling him he's going to send him back to the ghetto with his homies or whatever crap Mangino has said to past and probably current players.
I'm sure Pelini at Nebraska is the same sort of first rate hot headed asshole that most successful Defensive coaches seem to be, but I doubt you'd hear him berate somebody about their father being an alcoholic.
That shit is just wrong. That's up there with sexually harassing your athletes or punching an opposing player.
And to say it isn't newsworthy is equally naive. You have a coach in Mangino who has allegedly been ignored for other high profile gigs due to his size now suddenly on the hot seat for questionable behavior and a history of anger.
It just shows that when your 12-1, you might get away with this behavior, but when you lose five straight in a year you were suppose to win the Big 12 North, you'll probably get fired for it.

I wore the standard issue attire, or whatever the line Emilio Estevez says in Breakfast Club.

or to be honest, I wore a singlet.

One that looked alot like this:

Willingham never put up 100 in two weeks kicking the asses of Oregon and USC in the process (both top 10 at the time), either.

CINCINNATI (AP)—A judge warned University of Cincinnati sophomore quarterback Zach Collaros on Thursday that he could spend the bowl season in jail if he doesn’t get his act together after being accused of showing a fake ID at a bar.

Hamilton County Municipal Court Judge Bernie Bouchard scolded Collaros for failing to begin a court-ordered program on the dangers of underage drinking. Bouchard told Collaros he had until Dec. 7 or would face jail time.

“Got it? Are we clear?â€

Isn't Over The Rhine on of the most dangerous communities in the US? And they're worried about a 20 year old flashing a fake ID?

It's like the cops here issuing citiations for seat belt violations while the gang members are tagging the parks.

I wouldn't say Over the Rhine is a "community". It's more of a neighborhood that is exactly as depicted in the scene from "Traffic", except it gets super creepy at night.
