it's entirely different.

was the last one too pop for you DJ? this one is more tripped out, psych.

Just never really caught my ear. Admittedly I played it about 1.5x and deleted it. I'll try this one out, curious about the drug/psych aspect.

I mentioned the Of Montreal vibe in a positive way, fwiw.

I'm halfway through Congratulations right now. I don't dislike it enough to stop right now but I can't see revisiting as I don't think this is for me.

Going to play that Happy Birthday album again.

My only reference for MGMT was seeing them open for Fiery Furnaces – everyone including themselves seemed unimpressive – until listening to Congratulations the other day. Despite my previous criticisms, I'm pretty much with Dumpjack, in that it's not deplorable, but I won't return to it more than once or twice. It sounds bad – maybe it's just the quality of the files I have – and there's no element to grasp. I liked "Siberian Breaks", but can anyone else please testify that "Brian Eno" is an abomination?

Kind of hard to nail down actually. Poppy vocals, but the dude's voice is kind of nasally and might be a dealbreaker depending on tolerance levels. Kind of some 90s scuzzy guitar throughout, surf pop moments, a dash of Pavement, with some Royal Trux-ish times.

I agree with all of this. I wouldn't say it was bad either. I'm not sure I'll listen to it again, but it's something that peaked my interest in future albums by them.

Speaking of the White Stripes, their cover of "Jolene" on that live record is the tits. Love it.

Magiska has a hotfile link for it, but it is embedded in their site, so the Magiska address pops up when you download it.

Is there any way that if we post something in here that isn't like common indie whatever that we post a link to the band's myspace page so we can sample it instead of rambling off our subjective thoughts on the list of no name bands we think this other no name band sounds like? :)

or you can just go google the band name and find the myspace yourself.

If you're sharing it, you should just go ahead and share it. If I don't see anything but a band I've never heard of with just a download link I certainly don't give a shit enough to start googling all that shit, but if there was a clickable myspace link, I'd probably be more likely to give it a listen.

It's actually a simple request for courteousness. It's no big deal either way. Do it and I might listen to something you've posted/recommend. If not, I'll just continue not giving a shit about your posts. And I'm sure that feeling's mutual.

Courteousness on the part of the fucking people who are posting free music for you to download. Jesus christ, just kill yourself.

Someone is overreacting.

I can find free music all on my own. I use this page for 2 things:

1. To have easier/quicker access to specific music I would get on my own regardless of its posting here
2. As a source for new music recommendations.

As it relates to the latter, I think it's a reasonable suggestion that if you're posting/recommending something that you include something as simple as a myspace link. Just a request; it's not indicative of laziness or whatever other grizzled fantasy you've created to justify your consistently pompous internet persona.
