I finally got around to picking up All Things Must Pass today courtesy of my local public library. I had realized that I had never bothered to listen or buy any of his solo album stuff despite being a big Beatles fan. In fact, when think of "George Harrison, solo artist" this is what immediately comes to mind:

- Got My Mind Set On You
- My Sweet Lord
- The irritating chorus of Bangladesh, Bangladesh...
- Hey, he wrote the excellent Taxman didn't he?

...and that's about it. What are some other essential Harrison tunes I should consider?

Your opinions are being solicited, Obnetricians.

The title track from "All Things Must Pass" is a personal favorite. In fact, that album is the only Beatles-related release that I like.

"Here Comes The Sun"
"Blue Jay Way"
"Only a Northern Song"
"Wah-Wah" (from All Things Must Pass)
"Dream Away" (from the Time Bandits sountrack)
"What Is Life?" (from All Things Must Pass)
etc.
etc.
etc.

The only reason you don't know more George stuff is because he was overshadowed by the more prolific Lennon and McCartney.

George's tunes are every bit as good.

Other than "Here Comes the Sun" and "Something", I can't think of a Harrison song I like.

I think other than All Things, Brainwashed, and parts of Cloud Nine, his stuff's really not all that good. But those first two are so good they make up for a lackluster career and are easily the best things ANY of the ex-Beatles had to offer, in my book. I bought all of the remasters that had been released and just couldn't stomach them - horribly dated sounding, not to mention some really lackluster songcraft. It's just so strange that there's these two spectacular albums spread apart by so many sub-good ones. Way to bookend a solo career (overlooking that Wonderwall soundtrack thingie he did before All Things, obviously.)

Isn't "Savoy Truffle" a George song?

Has everyone forgotten "Give Me Love"?

(Apparently.)

Since no one else has mentioned it, I'll throw in "Long Long Long," which I love not so much for the song as for the mood. Not surprised to find out Low covered it once.

And I've always liked the lightweight "Blow Away" from the "lousy albums" years.

Not a large fan of the White Album, but that song scared me from the time I first heard it (and that was when it was new). Beautiful music. I'd like to hear Low's version.

Oh yeah, and "Headed for the Light" from the first Wilburys album, probably mostly a George composition, is a good 'un.
