If you had never heard anything of theirs, and were looking for your first taste of something good, which album would you get first?

I'd say EP.

It's sort of a halfway point between 'Gallowsbird's Bark' and 'Blueberry Boat' in terms of sound rather than chronology.

I'd go with EP, too.

I like Blueberry Boat more than Gallowsbird's Bark. I've not heard EP.

I understand they are rather bizarre live (in a good way).

blueberry boat is good, but i'd probably have hated it if it was my introduction to them.

It was my introduction to them (it was a lot of people's introduction to them), and I don't hate it.

well, i wasn't trying to say that everyone would, but it's rather unconventional for some people's first listen of a band. that's just going on experience with friends and acquaintances.

DEFINITELY Gallowsbird Bark. I still think Blueberry Boat blows. ALLITERATION!

the EP is pretty nice as well.

one should probably get EP first. It's easily the most accesible, although Gallowsbird's Bark is the best.

i was indifferent to Blueberry Boat at first but it has really grown on me to the point where it's one of my favorite records to play when i'm on a long drive. Gallowsbird seems the obvious choice to start though and then get the EP.

I'm really excited to hear the two new records they have in the pipe.

They're coming into town and I'm debating about buying a ticket -- any opinions from those who have seen them live?

I highly recommend their live show---but I love all three of their records. If you don't like their recorded material you might want to stay away. I would describe their show as a frenetic, nonstop, aural deluge

I have to see this show, along with Bauhaus, in the near future. Blueberry Boat was my number two album of 2004 after the still brilliant Funeral which has held up extremely well.
