It's "Alex Kidd" not "Alex the Kid"

we called it Alex the Kid for so long that by the time we found out that it wasn't, it was too late to say it differently.

and how was i to know? The game was built into my Sega MasterSystem II, so it's not like I had a case to look at or a blurb to read or anything.

to drop the tiger - colloquial, meaning, to achieve sufficient familiarity, notoriety, &c. so as to stop needing full names. cf. "jumping the shark"

I don't believe you. It was Alex Kidd everywhere. amgl even admitted that it was Kidd, and he's down under as well.

Psycho Fox was also awesome.

The abbreviation GWTW takes about 1/4 the time to write as Gone with the Wind, but twice as long to pronounce.
