Sorry, I just had to get this out.

My co-pay for my medication is $280 every damn month, but it's less, if I order a 3-month supply. But I have to pay $870 straight-up, every time I order.

Now, with doctor's bills piling up after my surgery (yeah, I'm still paying them and will be for a while), I cannot afford those payments, so I've been sending in good-will checks every month just to let them know I'm not trying to skip out on my bills.

I tried to order a refill today and they "Cannot refill my medication until the full balance is payed".

So I guess I'll just have to go without the medication that's been keeping me stable for the last 10 years. At least until I can scrounge up the cash to pay for it.

Mother fuckers.
It's frustrating as hell and makes me yearn for some sort of socialized health care.

I'm applying for public aid today, but probably won't qualify because I make too much money.

How is your side-gig situation? I did indeed qualify for aid, but things have been a HELL of a lot easier with an extra hundred or so coming in every week under the radar. I know you play, but have you / could you line up a regular gig (covers? works for us...) somewhere close to home? If you're entertaining background music and you don't give a shit if people clap, there's a market for you. I'd imagine places down there would pay at least $200, if not $300 for an evening.

Trying to get set up with a manufacturer-sponsored program/founbdation that will drastically reduce my copay. Should get the application in the mail sometime this week.

Only hope that I qualify.

EDIT: Oh, and Cap'n... I get about $100 a month from side gigs. Not much, but it does help.

Well, the only bit of help I can think to offer is to say: Get More Sidegigs. If you can. The late nights kinda suck, but the money is good. $300 for sitting on a stool for 3 hours and regurgitating good songs... every week... That'd be $1200 a month if you could find it. Maybe 2 places, each one every other week? Plus a tip jar, labeled "Brain Medicine Fund."

Sorry to hear this, Todd, but you are going about it the right way. You may want to also contact the people you owe the surgery money to, and work out a better plan...as long as you show good will, they usually will work with you.

I know it sounds cliched, but write your local Congressman, etc and explain the situation, a lot of times, if you can get the right people, they will help you, just to use you as a a photo op. (Even the Republicans will do this) :D

Other than that, keep grinding. Most people find themselves in these situations at one point or another, so just keep your head up and eyes on the prize.

Much of what's inside Matthew Lesko's books is the real deal. REAL government programs that aren't well publicized and can provide money and assistance to help people. What he doesn't tell you when you see him on TV is:

By the time you get one of his books alot of the information may be out of date.
There isn't any kind of guarantee that any given program will pay out even if you do meet all the requirements.
Getting your money from these programs can take a HUGE amount of effort and time.

Still, though, he's no charlatan. Doesn't hurt to try.
