I've got an EP w/ 3 songs on it, one I really like. Is that all I need, or should I pick up the full length?

which 3 songs? :P

actually, it's one of my favs of the year. if you like the 3 songs (assuming they're from "hopes and fears"), you should like the album.

but there are people that don't like it. you should hear their opinions too...

All 3 are from the H & F disc. Somewhere..., Bend..., We Might As Well...

Man, I'll bet the disc is really short. Those 3 songs are under 11 minutes.

Thanks,

fp

There are people here who hate them. Too bad. I think Hopes & Fears is worth full price.

Absolutely love the album! Seven bucks is a mere pittance to pay for it. Buy it.

in my opinion, you already have the only song worth owning in somewhere only we know.
i sold my copy back...a little too slick for my tastes.

My roommate was listening to this last night. What a pile!! It's the lamest, most pussyfied crap I've heard in a long time. It made me nearly as angry as that OAR song I heard a while back.

Heh. There's a comparison I wouldn't have thought to make. Keane are unabashedly sentimental and have absolutely no "cool" factor. But OAR are just crap pop product designed to air in front of drunken frat boys who are trying to pretend they're sentimental for their current girlfriends/dates/pants-getting-into targets.

I've never cared if a band were edgy or not. I like both kinds, but certainly think more of Keane than O.A.R. Hell yeah.

...Keane would make good fuck music. Maybe your roommate was hinting at something?

I didn't mean to compare thier styles. Just that they both made me feel the same way. And that I was shocked at how blatantly terrible they both were.

I'm no meatal head by any means, and I listen to my share of 'pussy music.' It's just that Keane is over the top on the lame, bland, pap scale.

Hello Air Supply of 2004.

They border on guilty pleasure territory but the album is good. It's a little polished but the songs are still rather good. Personally, The Veils album is so much better. I got Keane for free thru BMG which is the only reason I own it.

I had an excellent rant against Keane on the other board. I can't remember exactly what I said but I did say I'd go to their live show just to throw golf balls at them.

I've mellowed since then. Not about Keane, just in general. I still think their shite I just don't wish personal injury on them. Well, tonight anyway.

Um... I'm sure you could find "Parachutes" used for $7. That's a much better deal...

Postmersh has no love for the Keane...

Hello Air Supply of 2004.

I think UNCUT called it something like post-Coldplay and finished the little blurb by calling it pretty, but pretty vacant. Still thought enough of it to give 2 stars. You can't please all the people all the time... ;)

There are a few songs that are decent enough, but yeah, it's very fluffy surface area sentimental brit pop that makes Coldplay and Travis look like Motley Crue.

I'm not of the school who always has to equate sentiment with surface or lack of substance. Sometimes you just have to let yourself go into the pansy wussy-boy moment and be able to tell which artists are being sincere and which ones just histrionic.

Then you go play Ace Of Spades to cleanse yourself a bit.
