i am sure there's been many discussion threads (?, i never pay attention to them).

anyway i am glad (even tho waay late) i am finally on board. i am going to head to e-bay for season 2.

Best show on television, period.

I know you're halfway across the globe and all, but there's a lot of cool Baltimore references that the writers throw in, too.

Anybody know when Season 3 is coming out on DVD?

It's nice to see that Lester recovered from being a junkie in "The Corner" to be an upstanding man of the law.

Anyone else think that the dude who sets up the Free Zone in Season 3 loks bizarrely like a snake? Me and Bloor even refer to him as Snake or Dat Snake Lookin'

Best show in TV, and I need to get the fucking box sets of these and hole up for a week long mongerthon.

Oh, and Brother Mouzone SCARES THE SHIT OUT ME.

Thing is Aimaa, there is really no discernable drop in quality from season 1-3. All good and has a fantastic overall story arc.

On a related note.... I just started reading the book "Drama City" by George Pelecanos, the main writer for The Wire. Best crime novel I've read since I got heavy into James Ellroy. He has one helluva ear for street language.

Another outstanding HBO drama. Is there going to be a season 4?

Yes, probably after the shitty Sopranos. Rumor is it has something to do with the school system, but don't rely to much on that, because I have no idea where I heard that or if it's even true.

You heard it from me. And I heard or read it somewhere..... . Dunno.

For those of you with Comcast On Demand; the last episodes that conclude Season 2 end on Sept. 10, so on the 11th we should see the debut of Season 3 On Demand. I'm stoked, can't wait to see it again.

I never gave this show a chance because they had so many actors from Oz in it. Not fair to them, but I couldn't get past it.

Fontana & Levinson use all the same actors, from Homicide to The Corner to Oz to The Wire.

I am working through season two this week. Awesome. For those of you playing along at home, the judges house in ep 8 (at least the exterior) is on my block, across the street.

Some cops in Baltimore. The 'war on drugs', the decline of the working class, politics, self loathing, etc. Each season one big story arc. As it's HBO, there's gratuitous nakedness of all sorts and for all tastes.

And there is a season 4; don't know what it's about but it visits the armory and the museum up by Hopkins at least. The filming interrupted my commute those times.

best cop show i've ever seen, hands down. i like it's slow pace, it gets to the boring reality of police work better than anything i've seen since the french connection. plus, it's fun to watch episodes of law and order and pick out every single goddamned cast member of the wire ever.

Season 4 is going to somehow involve the school system.

From IMDB, though this is more appropriate for Season 1. Season 2 went to Sparrows Point and the Port of Baltimore with smuggling and corrupt unions, and Season 3 went back to the drugs again, but with a different angle. As with the good HBO shows, there's lots of grey area. The good guys aren't always good and the bad guys aren't always bad.

+ + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + +

Set in Baltimore, this show centers around the city's inner-city drug scene. It starts as mid-level drug dealer, D'Angelo Barksdale beats a murder rap. After a conversation with a judge, Det. James McNulty has been assigned to lead a joint homicide and narcotics team, in order to bring down drug kingpin Avon Barksdale. Avon Barksdale, accompanied by his right-hand man Stringer Bell, enforcer Wee-Bey and many lieutenants (including his own nephew, D'Angelo Barksdale), has to deal with law enforcement, informants in his own camp, and competition with a local rival, Omar, who's been robbing Barksdale's dealers and reselling the drugs. The supervisor of the investigation, Lt. Cedric Daniels, has to deal with his own problems, such as a corrupt bureaucracy, some of his detectives beating suspects, hard-headed but determined Det. McNulty, and a blackmailing deputy. The show depicts the lives of every part of the drug "food chain", from junkies to dealers, and from cops to politicians.
