I only hope Nebraska has a respectable year of at least 8-3 and will challenge Oklahoma when they play in Lincoln. I have read many excerpts from the various pre-season publications. CollegeFootballNews.com has LSU and USC meeting for the BCS Title. Another publication has predicted five unbeaten teams still left by the end of the year, including at least two Big Ten teams. If I have to predict this year, I would say that the winner of Texas/Oklahoma plays USC in the title game with USC unbeaten and the Big 12 team with one loss. There is a good chance that a Big Ten team could finish the year unbeaten and play someone like LSU from the SEC for the title.
If I was a Bayou Bengal fan I wouldn't be that confident in Les Miles, but at least Saban stocked the cupboard before he left and you do have Bo Pellini as a Defensive Coordinator.

In your dreams. Remember, they actually have to play in a real conference now and a real schedule. Va Tech wins the ACC.

I thought there weren't going to be any polls until after a few games were played this year. I thought it was a response to Auburn going undefeated last year but not being ranked #1 due to their low pre-season ranking. Did I make this up?

I so sick of USC. I want someone to put a hurtin on Matt Leinart's smiling, I've got the world on a string mug from the weakside.

I thought I told everyone that Georgia isn't going to lose a game until 2046. IT'S ALREADY BEEN CONFIRMED.

Also, does anyone care about the UGA vs Boise St game the first weekend of games outside of our fans. IMO, the Miami/FSU game and the Georgia game are the two most compelling games that weekend. Both will be top 20 match ups and can put the losers behind the 8 ball from the get go.

This shit can't start soon enough. I'm already tailgating in my mind.

I thought so as well.

But, for the AP polling, I don't see why they couldn't start early, since the writers pulled out of the BCS.

[insert bad quickie sex joke, here.]

This may not be out of the realm of possibility. ESPN The Magazine has them beating USC in the Rose Bowl; the combined team speed of those two schools could easily break the sound barrier. And Hester is that Scary Maniac.....

Agreed. Once I get past this (quite frankly FRIGHTENING) road trip to Bristol this wknd, I Am Focused Like A Laser.

Bristol should be a nice character builder though.

Louisville is in a pretty weak conference and is a loaded team that should have beaten Miami last year. Plus, they beat unbeaten Boise State in a Bowl game last year as well. College Football News only has them losing to Pitt, which is quite a stretch, considering they were the most mediocre team to ever make a BCS game last year and have a new coach in Dave Wanstedt. If Nebraska can beat Pitt again this year, than Louisville can clearly be Pitt this thear.

Jesus, I cant imagine attending that game without the following supplies:

1. 3 bottles of Thunderbird, one pint of Glenmore gin
2. 50 rock of fine smeb
3. Broom stick for cracking mf'ers on the backs of their knees.
4. S&W .357 snub nose

i'm looking for my alma mater to repeat as National Champion...ok so its the D3 level, but still. 50 consecutive winning seasons and 33 straight regular seasons wins ain't nothin to laugh at

in the pac 10 - i don't see much outside of USC...the Ducks will be ok if their secondary holds up - their D line is really tough.

the beavs look to continue their slide - perhaps a 6 or 7-place finish.

I like their head coach, Paul Johnson (formerly of GA Southern); he was always a good interview and that option offense he runs is a bitch to defend.

Sounds as if someone needs to familiarize himself witha certain dog-sled like contraption known as The Humiliator.

I am fucking GEEK about Football. Pro, College, hell, I was listening t o HS games on the radio onthe way to ATL Friday Night.

UGA v. Boise is going to be A) fucking frightening, I just hope we decide to cram the ball down their Goddamned throats to the tune of 400 team rushing yards, followed up witha little long bomb Go DJ (Cuh dat my DJ) Shockley to Bailey action, but also keep their offense off the field. Without three of the biggest king hell sex offenders in SEC History lurking on our side of the ball ready to eat Spleen on any play, I am anxious to see how we do against these buggers. I think Teh Heat and Depth carry us through, though.

What will be truly interesting is when I descend on a hotel bar in New Jersey, post my cousin's wedding wearing a fine seersucker suit and demand Bourbon and Football at a rate they have never even considered. (I did this same said in Maine a few years ago and almost bit a girl's arm off when she tried to change the channel.)

I had a chance to attend the Nebraska Opener against Maine, but now I am only attending the Nebraska-Wake Forest Game on the 10th. The same day as the big Ohio State-Texas game.

I kind of hope Florida State beats Miami this year. Usually I cheer for the Canes, because Nebraska has never really gotten robbed playing against Miami.

I'm already looking forward to next season, and this one hasn't even began. Nebraska is still short like three non-conference games thanks to the new 12 game rule. It is a shame they have to be patsies according to our AD, since we already travel to USC and essentially need them all to be home games to pay for the Olympic Sports. I'd like to see us play an SEC opponent again. We usually fair pretty well against them, especially in Bowl games.

Here's the early bowl projections:

You can't blame Miami for joining the Big East 10 years ago. That was the only Conference that would except us at the time. Prior to that , when they were an Independent , who regular played games against Florida , Florida State , Notre Dame , Penn St. , Michigan , South Carolina etc. and were still winning Championships. Sure they have some creampuffs on their schedule but doesn't EVERY school. Why do you think they jumped to the ACC ? So they can silence all the morons who whine about what a weak conference Miami was in. Did anyone complain last year when Louisville was in the title hunt after dominating the " MIGHTY" Conference USA ? Or when Utah dominated the all powerful Mountain West ? Of course not. Why? Because their not Miami. Everyone hates a powerhouse program , and because of that , it just gives them the ' Us v.s the World ' mentality that drives them to be in the title hunt year in and year out.

I'm a little nervous of the opener against FSU due to the fact we've beaten them 6 straight , so , their due. Other than that , VA Tech will probably be the only game they might lose this year. Either way , if we do lose 3 games this year , it will be a major dissapointment. But , there are another 86 colleges that would consider that a good season.

Other than that let's talk College Football here fellas . Good luck to all your teams but just don't expect to finish better than the 'Canes. And to all you haters :

As far as the poll situation goes , the AP also pulled out of the BCS fiasco. The decision was based on media outlets deciding it was best not to be involved in the process.

oh god, I'm chomping at the bit...start this shit already...at least the Sooners play first thing on opening day

and this is Texas' best shot in a while...if they don't take care of business this year, they may not beat OU for a LOOOOOOOG time...OU is stacked with talent, but short on experience...so this season may have some up and downs
