......and why you may not hear about it.

I've been hearing rumors for a couple of weeks that an even bigger than Palmeiro MLB'er has tested positive for steroids and has been going through the appeals process and whatnot that will proclude the official announcement/suspension. LooGar and I even had a convo about who it might be.

Well, its Roger Clemons and apparently MLB may be covering it up. I would advise them not to do this---with the exception of the people who have covered up the Kennedy assasination and the (alleged) moon landings; secrets are not exactly kept in high regard......

People on the Phillies board have been talking about this non-stop for the last couple days, and a couple of the posters heard that it's Roger Clemens as well. Where'd you read this?

Ive got sources.

I hate to admit it, but I read about 10,000 sports websites and listen to sports talk radio for a good chunk of the day. Most of it is bullshit, but when you see patterns, you see patterns.

MLB is in trouble if it's Roger Clemens or anyone else that big.

Hey OPA!, can't find a good source yet for the Clemons story, but hows about this one:

Source:http://benmaller.com/

Phils in middle of culture war?

The Phillies found themselves in the middle of the culture war as well as the National League wild-card race last night.

As the Phillies played the Washington Nationals, a confrontation developed in the upper deck at Citizens Bank Park between Repent America, a fundamentalist Christian group, and fans, many of whom were attending the game as part of a gay pride group, according to the PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER.

This is the third year for Gay Day, which featured a national anthem performance by the Philadelphia Gay Men's Chorus and a first pitch from Cyd Ziegler of Outsports.com.

It's also the third year Repent America's Michael Marcavage has attended in protest of the event. Marcavage and another man held a sign that read, "Homosexuality Is a Sin, Christ Can Save You" at the top of Section 303 in right field.

At one point, other fans stood in front of the banner, obscuring it. Eventually, officers from the Philadelphia Police Civil Affairs division flanked Marcavage and his unidentified companion.

"This is totally offensive to me," said James Duggan, a fan from Merchantville who stood several rows in front of the sign and engaged Marcavage in debate. "These people are false Christians. I was told the Phillies' lawyers arranged this with Repent America's lawyers, and I find that totally offensive, too."

Mike Stiles, the Philles' vice-president of operations and administration, said the team's attorneys had met with attorneys for Repent America after the group protested the first gay-pride event at Veterans Stadium in 2003.

"It's pretty clear under the Constitution," Stiles said, "that if you're going to have a gay community night, people have the right to express another opinion. We understand it's distressing for some people to have to look at that sign. We believe the leaders of the gay community who arrange this night like any other group know what they're going to have to put up with."

The Phillies have written policies barring fan behavior "interfering with other guests' ability to enjoy the game," as well as banners that contain "fighting words likely to provoke a breach of the peace."

Both policies, Stiles said, are trumped by Repent America's First Amendment rights.

Well, fuck 'em all. Now, Chris, you didn't answer my question from another thread. Do you by any chance participate in some secret gay sex club?

If this were true, MLB couldn't cover it up.

No. I just heard that shit about them gay brothers.

Despite your wildest fantasies, I am not, nor will I ever be homosexual. I know that I am thin, occasionally well dressed, and so good looking as to almost be "pretty" (shit, I even use moisturizer), but I dont have the gay and dont plan on catching it....

But I think that you are a pretty cool guy and I would totally hang out (in public) and watch a game. As long as you keep your man-hands off of me.

I don't know how I feel about this. All this shit is bringing the game down, but it just may take a name even bigger than Palmeiro for baseball to truly and honestly address this problem.

Well the questions that I was going to expand with were:

"Do you care?"

"Does it change your perception of Clemons or other players?"

I'm a Braves fan and there is only one Braves player from this run who I KNOW for sure did steroids (Brett Boone) but I'm not sure how I would feel if I found out that Chipper, Andruw, Justice or Smoltz did.

I mean, I know Greg Maddux is a cheater, and it really doesnt bug me much.

There have been rumors that there are two big names in the appeals process now. I've also heard Clemens as well as Pujols. I wouldn't be surprised to see Gagne's name up there as well.

The other guy is Johnny Damon.

I would hate it to be Damon. He's such a class act.

I hope it is everyone on the Orioles and Sidney "Binge & Purge" Ponson twice, except Brian Roberts and a couple of the pitchers like Cabrera, Bedard & Ryan. Then I hope MLB steps in and has Angelos fired, drawn and quartered.

Yeah, I like Roberts too. I would spare Surhoff as well.

Deal. Actually, I got no beef with Tejada either. Guy seems to be having actual fun most of the time.

And Sal Fasano, but that's because it takes him six minutes to run the 90 feet from home to first. He's so painfully slow that if he hit a home run they would probably have to pinch run for him to finish the trot.

Well the questions that I was going to expand with were:

"Do you care?" Yes. Get by on your physical talent alone without any "help". If you've reached an age where you feel you need an extra boost it's time to pack it in and not fall back on artificial ways to keep going.

"Does it change your perception of Clemons or other players?" Yeah, if he has used it would. Level playing field. No unfair advantages

Cheating has been a part of the game since Ty Cobb days. I mean stealing signs, pitchers fuckin' with baseballs etc. I know it's inconsistent but that stuff doesn't bother me as much as steroid use.

Speaking of cheaters:

I'll be interested in what Bob has to say about Mike Scott. C'mon, Bob, I don't believe he was ever caught, but the dude had to be doing some crazy shit to that ball in '86.

Now I'm hearing that an "unnamed Yankee" is about to be outed as well. Any takers on who it might be? Sheff? Hope not. I like Gary.

Please let it be A-Rod. Please let it be A-Rod. Please let it be A-Rod.
