Surprised more people aren't a little excited by this:

Iron & Wine with Calexico In The Reins

"Two giants of alt. country, Iron & Wine and Calexico, converge for a masterful and moving collection of originals by Sam Beam. It was a merger that was bound to happen as Beam had originally intended on recruiting Calexico’s founding members Joey Burns and John Convertino to help record his debut release. Obviously that never came to be, and as it is we merely became enchanted with Beam’s wonderfully moving, minimalist and moody slices of audio-poetica as he did it on his own. There’s a new power here behind that now familiar voice, with Burn’s chiming in many sweet backing vocals, as Calexico brings an undeniably striking power and punch to his usual hush. In The Reins, a 7-track mini-LP, is truly a harmonious affair that will satisfy fans of both bands." Miles Of Music

Dr. Dre - Detox

I thought this was shelved over a year ago... And I hadn't heard of Dre picking it back up.

So, huh?

Is it epic?

Anyone heard anything on the new Metric? I'd be curious to hear that.

That first single off the Goldfrapp is catchy as hell. Pretty sure that Rogue Wave is October and not September, Miss Princess.

np: Jackson 5 -I Want You Back

Dre, Trent... Axl, Zach de la Rocha... Brian Wilson..... Motherfuckers is crazy.

And half of me sees Jack White joining this group nonpareil. I hope it won't be so, though. Especially considering that White Stripes appears to just be hitting its stride.

Lightning Bolt
Animal Collective
Dreamcatcher
Black Dice (they do have a new one, don't they?)
Leo Kottke/Mike Gordon
Iron and Wine
. . .

I have it, if anyone wants it. I think that, with "Woman King", the two EP's are strong contender for record of the year.
