It was supposed to be released this month, but I can't find any updates regarding the status of this ANYWHERE on the internet. It's kind of bizarre. Have any of you heard anything, by any chance?

Is this the one about the future, where a soldier is put to sleep in the present and awakened 500 or something years later?

That's the movie alright - it is called Idiocracy - supposedly the release has been pushed back until fall and the initial tests of the film weren't very hot - so we'll see - Drinky had the basic synopsis of the story correct - they put an average soldier in some cryogenic state and he wakes up like 500 or 1000 years later - the catch is that society has dumbed itself down so much that he is now easily the most intelligent man alive.

Office Space wasn't much of a hit in theatres...less than $20 million taken in the US, I think. DVD's where they made their money on that one. And that's why there's a "Special Edition" DVD on the way.

This new movie - I read today that it's coming out early next year. There was an article on the guy that wrote it, & his next project...a Battle Of The Network Stars movie. I shit you not, as much as I wish I was.

Seriously, that "Special Edition" is taking a long fucking time to be released. I thought it was originally supposed to be out in like March or something.

My hunch is that they wanted to bring it out around the same time as Judge's new movie, so it was delayed, too.

And there's a Beavis & Butthead DVD collection coming out as well.

Here's a nugget I Googled, from DVDFanatic earlier this month :

"On November 1, 2005, Fox Home Entertainment will release the long-awaited Special Edition of Office Space. The cult fave will arrive in either Widescreen or Full Screen, and will retail at $19.98. Details are sketchy, but thus far we know it will contain:

"Out of the Office: An Office Space Retrospective with Mike Judge" Featurette
4 Deleted Scenes
Theatrical Trailer
DVD-ROM Features

If there are any more features, or any changes, we'll be sure to let you know."

The Beavis & Butthead episodes just aren't the same without them making fun of music videos.

I agree. I bought that 6-pack of DVD's that Time-Life was selling a couple years back, & while they're funny they're missing that element.
