Seriously. I don't know what to feel tonight. I am glad to have my life and home still intact. I'm pretty sure my car is gone (it's in NO). But who gives a fuck about that now. The last contact I had with one of my friends who had to stay b/c his wife was a nurse was not good. It's so scary. Nobody has a life to get back to anymore.

I feel like the fight to save coastal LA is officially over. It's only a matter of time now. Venice and Buras were completely wiped off the map and have been reclaimed by the gulf. THEY'RE GONE. Grand Isle might be lost too. It obviously means nothing to most of you, but it means a great deal for the rest of us. My city is now officially on the clock. We lose land the size of delaware every year already. We can't rebuild what's lost and save the future.

But oh well fuck it. But ha ha, the jokes ultimately on y'all. Good luck with those gas prices. One of the main reasons we are in this predicament is b/c we've sacaraficed to provide over 70 percent of your energy. Who's wants those refineries now?

Look I don't mean this to be personal but I'm so hopelessly angry and distraught right now. I' m venting. Alots happened to me in the last two days, and I don't even know where to begin.

Personally, i think venting isn't a bad place to start.

Anger is best let out.

Other than that, as you count off the losses, make sure you balance it out by counting the things you do have too.

Like I said before, you're in my prayers.

Don't know what else to say, but keep us posted.

I feel kinda stupid over being so angry that I fucked up one of my side view mirrors yesterday compared to what you and thousands of other people are going through right now.

You have every reason to be upset. I can't imagine what is going to be done for the hundreds of thousands who are displaced such as yourself.

I wish you the best of luck and I'm glad you're safe.

Right now the radio says that they expect water to rise another 9 feet.

Ain't nothing wrong with erupting some steam. Shit's fucked up, but it's gotta go forward. Do what you gotta do.

I've send out a few feelers for my people and their families in the city, Harahan and St. Bernard. So far no word, but I'm not pushing it yet, either.

I drove from Baton Rouge to Houma a few hours ago. The interstate was filled with ambulances going both directions. Hurrying to get the injured, and bring them to BR. They are going to try to evacuate people from the superdome to our civic center.

I heard St. Bernard is one of the worst places.

Yeah. I have two friends who don't live there, but their parents do. I'm not sure where one friend is, he may even be in the Middle East (USMC). He's one of those people who hops around all the time chasing adventures of some sort.

The other friend is living in Florida, so he should be fine, but his family is in Chalmette, though I would assume they hauled ass and only have massive property damage to deal with.

I don't want to alarm you but it's known here that the reason why they are not showing video from St. Bernard is because of the floating bodies everywhere.

I've heard (and read somewhere I can't recall) that a Wal-Mart actually opened the doors and let people take what they needed to survive. One picture had a cart full of baby food.

message from someone in NO

since I probably won't be able to get anymore for a while. I hear the water is still rising, coming uptown in my direction. Currently it is about a mile and a half away. Don't worry, it can't get to me. I have been out all day surveying the damage here uptown. It is unbelievable. You can hardly drive more than one block in any direction due to huge 100+ year old trees blocking the way. There are more trees down blocking the streets than there are trees standing. I had to flag down a policeman to tell him the Winn Dixie on Tchoupatoulas and Jefferson Ave. was in the process of being looted. 15 minutes later 8 squad cars were in front. When I went back later and talked to the original officer I flagged down, he told me he would be the last officer left in the whole 2nd district and the citizens were on our own. Martial law has been declared. The looting tonight will be unbelievable. Where are the National Guard troops

It's day by day. It's long and uncertain, but use your resources, friends, family neighbors, etc. and likewise I am sure they'll need help. It'll take a while, but be productive bit by bit and it comes together. I know it sounds fruitless, but progress will come. Just hang in there.

I was homeless for a month after Andrew. It took several months to feel whole again. Psychologically, you'll never forget it. Everything is unrecognizeable, and most likely as you knew it, will remain that way.

Supposed to be 3500 on their way in, but not till the morning. Any fucker seen hauling out anything beyond food and water needs to catch a bullet.

Been too many years since I lived in BR to have any old friends left in southern LA, but the scenes I've been watching are like hell. Hang tough, oldbulee.
