The Clocky, which is in development, is a brown furry oblong alarm clock on wheels. When the alarm clock goes off and the snooze button is pressed, the Clocky rolls off the bedside table and onto the floor until it finds a suitable spot to hide and rest. When the Clocky’s alarm sounds again, the sleeper must get out of bed and search for the clock, ensuring that the person is fully awake before turning it off.

I don't wake up easy. After getting up to find it just once, it'd be in pieces.

That's a bit too much personal volition to give a clock. It'd be getting in the fridge and hitting on your wife within a few days. Maybe even posting on Obner.

My alternative to that is placing my alarm clock across the room, forcing me to get up and turn it off.

Another solution is to show up for work just whenever.

I'm usually not coherent enough first thing in the morning to find my alarm clock anyway. Sometimes, I'll be smacking myself in the head, looking for the snooze button.

I wear contacts and since I don't wear them to bed, it wouldn't be much fun trying to find the stupid thing since I'm FUCKING BLIND!

I always wake up just before the alarm goes off, and lie there in anticipation.

I'm guessing it would get to the point that hearing the thing roll off the table and scooting around my floor looking for a place to hide would be too much for me to bare and I'd just start getting up the first time it went off. Maybe this would be good for me since I generally hit snooze 3-4 times every morning.

Couldn't you just hit the snooze button and then hold onto the thing until it stops?

I always get up on the first alarm because who wants to be woken up by a high-pitched, sharp, piercing, electronic blast of soundwaves more than once a day?

What's your prescription? I'm -8.5 in the right eye and -10 in the left. Can you beat that?*

*not that you'd want to

I guess this thing would be for the non-cat-owning market.

I've had a brown, fury, alarm clock for years now, except instead of batteries it runs on cat food.

It too has various stages it runs through:

Phase 1) Softly pats me on the nose
Phase 2) Jumps on my bed and forcefully nudges me in the back
Phase 3) Starts meowing
Phase 4) Jumps on my bedside table and knocks over my glass of water
Phase 5) Intuitively detects the most expensive piece of electronic equipment in the room, and begins to knaw mercilessly at vital cables until I get out of bed, go downstairs and "accompany" it while it eats breakfast.

Only wish I were actually able to "set" it.

Polly, you beat me to it, I've got dogs. One scratches to be let in the bedroom, one scratches to be let out. The drill goes: Get up, let one in, get up, let one out. repeat. Say fuh it and get up and fill espresso machine & find some tunes to throw on.
I don't have to get up at any certain time in the morning and usually stay up late "working"

Oh, and to answer the original question as to how low it would take for me to smash this clock:

one hangover

Good lord. I thought I was bad off and I'm only -4.5 and -3.75 or something like that.

it'd be pretty funny if you mixed this alarm clock up with your pet.
