This is generally why I watch: hotties and idiots taking themselves seriously and then getting their asses kicked. And Probst has gotten consistently meaner and more direct since this show first aired, which I enjoy.

On television there's definitely worse ways to spend an hour. I think Survivor is a fairly brilliant concept, and Mark Burnett (and his army of editors) really know how to milk the drama. The show gets a bad rap by people who want to prove their, um, [ironic quote]intelligence[/ironic quote] by crowing about how they only watch TV with substance instead of junk reality shows - but here's a clue: all TV is junk (and the first person that spazzes out with a "CSI has substance" sorta post will receive an envelope of pubes from the shower drain).

there's some gorgeous women this season, and this first challenge [an 11 mile hike through the Guatemalan wilderness] is a rough one.
