That cannot possibly be good. As much as I love Florida, this is why I live in Jersey, where the weather is completely average and mostly harmless.

As it bears down on the Bahamas, let us pray that it does not destroy the Bahamian's musical heritage as Katrina (attempted to) destory New Orleans's.

God-speed, Baha*Man. God-speed.

Has it been declared a 'cane yet or is it still just a tropical storm?

Correct me if I'm wrong but don't they name every tropical storm & they go alphabetical? Meaning Katrina was storm #11 of the season & Rita is #18. Now is that just the Northern Hemisphere? Does that include storms in the Pacific too?

I was thinking about the Ray Bradbury book and the movie with Jason Robarbs... sure I mispelled one or both, but "something wicked this way comes" was big time in my growth chart.

Anyway... good luck. And get out anyway you can if your life is in danger.

From what I understand, they go in alphabetical order by region. We may not see all of the hurricanes on the news that get named, because they don't threaten anything.

Here's all of the names so you can play along at home: http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/aboutnames.shtml

I find it hard to be threatened by "hurricane Stan."

I stand corrected.

Typhoons in the Pacific... Cyclones in the Indian (dot).

Well , no work for me tomorrow due to the storm.

Ever wonder where in the U.S. to hide from Mother Nature ? I found this article a bit interesting. Before you read it , try to come up with 3 places that you think are the safest and see how you fared.

6 O'clock news said that this thing may turn toward NO when it hits the gulf and be Cat 3 by the time of landfall. Please, God, no.
