No likey. They certainly had enough energy, and thus if you like their songs you would probably like the show, but the lead singer was kind of a douchebag and his voice and general affectation made me think "Axel Cougar Rosencamp." They only played a few songs, so maybe it wasn't representative, but I was less than whelmed.

The worst was when they played a pretty crappy song called "Poor People" (a cover?) about walking on sticky floors and going to the corner store that douchebag introduced as "seeming appropriate" for the hurricane relief theme.

Also bad was Jesse Malin, who apparently was very bitter about not playing CMJ, because he just talked shit on "indie rock kids" between every song.

Mirah is on tour? I hope I haven't missed it in my town.

They are, but this wasn't part of the tour.

He sure kicks his left leg a lot, so you have that to look forward to.

Damnit, again! One of these bands is going to have to give in and rename themselves "Douchebag and the Other Guys" to defray the confusion.

Haha. Dammit, Haq. I thought you would be the only one in on that, and you dropped the ball. DROPPED THE BALL.

Have no idea what Marah are like live, but on record there is such as thing as the GOOD end of "axelcougarwesterpettysteen" and they're it. Haven't hear the new one yet, but Kids In Philly will never get my thumbs down.

(also the Mirah With The Black Cat Orchestra album is an overlooked gem)

I really like "Kids In Philly" and have seen Marah live 3 or 4 times. They've always put on a really good show. Maybe you caught them on an off night.

I've never seen Marah live, but I imagine I'd be very whelmed indeed.

so if you see her say, "god, the people from my highschool probably diddn't even know i existed" believe her.
