Are they really worth seeing live for $10?

From what I've heard, probably...

It's fairly different from the albums, and pretty frentic...

Bring earplugs. And one of those neuralizer things from Men In Black to erase the whole experience from your brain afterward.

Short answer: No.

Yes*, if you like them. I don't see how anyone who likes any of their stuff wouldn't like their live show.

Earplugs are a necessity.

*Actually I've read that their "guitarist" will no longer be touring with them. That would be a shame because he was the most fun to watch. So I guess my "yes" is more of a "maybe".

It's more of an experience than a concert. It's pretty much just really loud noise coming out of shitty PA's. Songs aren't discernable.

I would say "yes", at your own risk.

I think it's between this and Four Tet, Hot Chip & Koushik tomorrow night.

They played here on Sunday on an excellent sound system, and it was brutal (read: siiiick). Aaron Dilloway is not touring with the band, and it shows. Nothing has matched the first time I saw them.

This is really sad because he would have been my main reason for recommending their live show. He was nuts (and yet the most normal-looking of the three).

I think he was replaced by some dude from Hair Police. I could be mistaken.

I'm pretty sure that's correct. Some of those dudes post on IHM, and that's where I read about it.

edit: Mike Connelly is his name, and he might only be with them temporarily.

Their (what I imagine was) "new" "material' was fucking raucus. And you should definitely go even just to visit the merch table - a merch table like no other: custom-packaged 12" glued to an etched laser disk!, other limited seemingly hand-made vinyl, CDRs aplenty (including a set of 6 spraypainted discs in stylish carrying case), and tapes upon tapes. Holy fuck.

I bought nothing.

I actually left without buying anything.

I must have been high and really tired and melted.
