I don't know if you could call them conspiracies, but is anyone convinced that the fix was in for any major sporting events in the last century? Anybody you think was on the take?

Superbowl III Jets Vs. Colts?
Ali's "phantom punch" knockout of Sonny Liston?

Just throwing out some things. Not saying I believe 'em.

Steve

Wilt Chamberlain never scored 100 points in one game.

It was all made up to gain the NBA some publicity.

The 1990 college football season. All of it. Ga Tech going undefeated? Colorado's 5th down against Missouri?

So, I'm the Fox Mulder of Obner, now?

I never heard that Superbowl III one. Interesting.

I dont know about conspiracy (probably had more to do with gambling/gangsters) but yeah, that punch didnt even graze Liston.

That game Eric Gregg umpired: Marlins v. Braves. Livan Hernandez pitching. Balls 18 feet outside being called strikes. Bullshit. (aside: Fucking Dan LeBatard's recent column about how great a night this was for Cuba made me want to drive to Miami with an assault rifle)

I mean, you're talking about conspiracies though, not just like points shaving or "crooked fucking zebras"[/pesci], right?

Hmmmm. That Superbowl III one is interesting as shit. You got anything substantial on that?

That the Yankees threw the 2004 ALCS, cause Boston was so distraught after losing for 86 years, that baseball feared the team and city, would abandon baseball, and fold the RedSox franchise...

So the Yanks dominated for the first 3 games, just to show the world that they could handle them piece of shits....but then 'for the good of baseball', stepped aside and let the Red Sox 'storm' back...

in the end, it made the rivalry better, baseball better.....

and the Yanks still toy with them to this day....

i dunno. its just what i heard :)

Got one:

The Knicks getting the #1 pick to draft Fat Pat Ewing. The Knicks envelope was allegedly frozen so Stern would know to pick the cold one, thus saving basketball in NYC, yadda yadda.

Hardly saved us....hah....made us better....but hardly saved.

i buy that though..seems easy enough to do....either freeze it, or put some sort of sticky substance on it

No, Chris, whatever you got that doesn't ring legit will do.

Hmmmm. That Superbowl III one is interesting as shit. You got anything substantial on that?

I've heard quite a few older guys say that no way do the Jets beat the Colts and on top of that Namath guarantees it!! I say, that's why we all watch sports, right. Anything is possible otherwise why play the freakin' game. However, I remember Bubba Smith being interviewed about 10-15 years ago and him saying plainly that the game was fixed. Who knows?

Not really a conspiracy but, like Twilight, I need to mention a "highway robbery" play for my fave team.

UGA/GA TECH 1999.

After an insane 2nd half comeback by the Dawgs we score what is the winning touchdown on a 1 yard dive by Jasper Sanks.

The officials call a phantom fumble that was recoverd by Tech when the replay clearly showed the ground cause the fumble AND well after he crossed the goal line. The TV announcers couldn't even believe it. We lost 51-48. Somethinig was rotten in Denmark and I'm not talking about the bums that shit outside Grant field.

UGA Athletic association even went so far as to petition to have an asterisk placed next to this game in the record books due to the blatant conspiracy.

Everytime I find myself feeling bad about Tech having losing seasons I think about that play and the fire of hatred re-ignites. TO HELL WITH GEORGIA TECH!

This is the thruth. They don't even have this on tape, and it wasn't on radio. No evidence exits except some pictures, and the ball, and the fuker was played in HERSHEY, PA.

If it dide happen, its like John Heisman's GTech squad and their 222-0 win over that team, where the team didn't show up, they grabbed 11 dudes out of the stands, and raped em.

In '86 you can plainly see a roll of hundreds in Buckner's back pocket as he walks off the field in game 6.

1991 Dixie Youth 11 year old All-Star Super Regionals. Thibodaux's A-team threw their game with Thibodaux's B-team, and thus kept Houma's West team out of the state tournament. Fuckers.
