WORST..... BAND...... EVER!

Hmm, sounds enticing. I've been wanting to check out the Smell-- I'll give ya a call later. And since I slept on 3 shows this week (lagged on getting tickets to Jamie Lidell/Four Tet, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, and lagged on getting listed for MIA/Spank Rock) umm I need my show fix.

Living in LA and never experiencing the infestitude of the Smell? For shame... the one all-ages co-op style place this city (legally) has that's halfway decent, even though it's shrouded in fumes of urine...

I probably go there more than anywhere else...and they're opening for GROWING, who are pretty rad - think pretty, ambient music with heavy metal undertones...

Gowns are really fun (member of The Mae Shi) and Amps for Christ are a classic So. Cal. institution...

It should be a VERY good show - wish I could go, but I have promises to keep, and miles to go...

yeah i know, i'm lame. actually there hasn't been too many shows there that i wanted to check out.... but yeah i definitely want to try to go. not sure though, work's been a little hectic and burning me out lately.

I too have never been to The Smell, mainly cuz I was always warned NOT to go.

Just a tip...

If you want a beer, traverse the block until you're (almost) directly behind the Smell. This location, nicknamed "Beers to go", will actually put a paper bag around your beer (if you so wish), or you can sit down and hang for a bit, if there's an empty table...

I would reccommend not going to the seems-like-fun bar right next to the alleyway that houses The Smell. It might have a security guard or 2, and seem a bit more lively, but this is actually a very weird Transvestite bar, the closest to an L.A. version of "We don't take kindly to strangers 'round here" I've ever been to...

Yeah, it's that luxurious around there. Downtown LA after sundown - it's FAN-tastic...

I rarely drink at gigs (that whole having to drive myself home thing), so I'm safe. Though, drinking from a paper bag has always had a slight appeal. I mean, ya DO wanna look like one of da homies on the curbs and fit in n shit.

I wonder what time Whiney takes the stage. Somehow, going alone to a show (my typical MO) doesn't sound that appealing at The Smell.
