You gotta respect them. Every year they find a way to win.

Leo Mazzone may actually be the first pitching coach to get in the Hall of Fame. I'd vote him in today. And hopefully he retires...;)

We have been to five(5) World Series; I'd say we've won a few playoff games.

Absolutely, and it's long overdo to stop explaining away Bobby Cox's success as luck, having teams you couldn't lose with..etc.

Some classics, too. Growing up with TBS in the 80s made me a Dale Murphy/'Nique Wilkens fan by default. I still root for the Braves come post-season, but I've always wondered which is worse: rooting for the Royals or the Braves? KC's fate is usually known by the end of April. Atlanta, on the other hand, has to endure a full season just to be let down at the end... when it hurts most.

I'll take my Royal blues.

In the NL, I have harbored a long-standing appreciation - dare I call it fandom - for the Braves. I really can't explain this, particularly as I tried hard to be a Mets fan when we lived in NY.

But there it is. I'll always watch and/or pull for the Braves.

In other news, could the Tribe have picked any worse time to lose to the Devil Rays?

Because you were weaned on Skip Caray and Pete Van Wieren as a child, I suspect.

just admit it, dude: You hate anything even remotely associated with the south because when you lived in N.Carolina some redneck either cut you off in traffic or distended your colon and then didnt call you back.

But you're happy in Portland and that's cool. Its a nice place, actually.

Its the Boston thing; When I was up there a few years ago, I got some good compliments when I rocked my 1943 Boston Braves cap.

no I hate them mostly because when I was a kid they were on tv all the friggin time and that's pretty much all there was. i hate the cubs and white sox for the same reason. that and the homer announcers and a player named chipper.

Yup, the Astros have no bats to back up their pitching talent.

Oh wait, that's the argument in THIS town..

hehe; its funny when you meet people who grew up in like Hawaii or Montana they are inevitably either Braves or Cubs fans....

Oh, and every teams announcers are homers--see,its part of the deal.

I love what they've done this year, I just hope they have enough left in them to make it in. I'd love to see them knock off the Yankees or Red Sox (esp the Yankees, deep hatred there).

No, this predates living in New England. Actually, I think it kicked in when I was living in Texas. But yeah, Boston Braves is a happy coincidence for this Sox fan.

I was a Braves fan back when Joe Torre was the manager and they sucked ass year in and year out.

i dislike the braves because i'm a mets fan and have been since the braves were actually bad.

whenever i think of the braves in the postseason, i think of the old black gentleman that sat in the first row behind the plate during every single playoff game in 1991. i was 10 that year and knew the braves had been trash for years. and i imagined this guy hoping for playoff tickets every year that they finished way out of the playoffs. then 1991 finally came for them and he was first in line for tickets. so, i guess i thought he was a true fan. and then the camera would inevitably pan across the stadium and everyone else seemed to only know that there was something with a chopping motion of the hand to come soon. and i've hated their fans as well as them ever since then. yeah, it's silly.
