I'm talking about people that it seems nobody mentions when talking about "best vocalists", but when you really listen to them sing you think, DAMN, that's some singin'!!!

I nominate Nick Lowe.
Listening to the Rockpile album now, and goddamn if his singing isn't some of the best I've heard, in particular on "Heart".

Art Garfunkel is pretty amazing, too.

Um, hate to do this, but Nick Lowe isn't singing "Heart"....Billy Bremner is.

Great call on Nick Lowe. And what about the vocals he pulls off in "You Inspire Me" from Dig My Mood? Awe. Some.

Grant Lee Phillips is another great voice that often gets forgotten.

Okay... then I nominate Billy Bremner, too.
But I've heard enough Nick to know that he belongs here.

Totally agreed.

I keep forgetting about him, then I go and pull out Ladies Love Oracle or Fuzzy (which now may be pulled out tonight when I get home)and it all comes back to me.

The girls have all three too.
Season 4 was released yesterday...and yes I've been asked ever so nicely.

Pretty much preposterous. I cannot think of another vocalist of recent vintage who is called out as often for being great and inventive as this guy.

Everybody loves him. The dudes in Dillinger Escape Plan, The Automator, Dave Grohl...

Solomon Burke - anyone that has heard him doesn't under rate him, but not enough people have heard him.

Count me as a fan.

I'll also add Jimmy Gnecco of the band, Ours.

Does he still update the webpage, even though the band broke up almost from the start [sic] - i.e. late '98, when they kicked off their mainstream appeal -, 'cause that would be funny.... A band is dead seven years later, but they still do tour-updates for non-existent tours, etc., etc.,...
