I'm just happy to be able to see a band that my wife and I can sorta agree on.

Good show, but damn if those songs don't all begin to sound the same when you hear them one after another.

They did a tribute to Johnny Cash, singing Ring of Fire

Michael Stipe came out and sang Nightswimming.

Rilo Kiley opened and managed to keep my interest

they were excellent when we caught them last month.

interesting that you mention your wife, as Coldplay are my wife's favorite band. she's literally obsessed with them.

It was a good show in ATL. Even better that I got a free ticket. I missed the Johnny Cash Tribute- Went only once to get beer, and managed to pick the douchebag line, where everyone in front of me had some sort of problem ordering a drink and/or counting money.

I saw them in Charlotte a few weeks ago and the songs did start to sound same-y, but that could also be due to the alcohol consumption. The Cash tribute was kind of nice, if not a little forced. The weirdest part was seeing how big Coldplay was now with all age groups, as compared with the very small group of fans (myself included) when their debut came out.

Where did they play, Steve? Last time I saw them was prolly 2001, and it was at a tiny club. I can't imagine seeing them at a huge venue.

I saw a bit of them at Coachella. I was supposed to see them at The Woodlands but it got postponed because of Hurricane Rita and shit.

Philips Arena.
But, since as I said my wife and I have trouble finding bands we can agree on, when we do, I'm willing to shell out the dough. We had pretty good seats and definitely felt as much a part of the show as one can in a big venue.

Yeah, all ages, sexes and colors were well represented.

Steve

Nice, glad you and the missus had a good time!

I'm trying to score free tickets to System of a Down next Thursday. My husband loves them, I tolerate them, but for free, who cares? My company co-owns a suite at the big arena here, so I'm hoping I can surprise him with tix.

If you've gotta go to an arena though, I give Phillips pretty high marks---especially compared to the Omni. I've seen Springsteen (twice) and U2 there---Bruce didnt sound as good the second time but, again, better than the alternative.

My boy drove up from Columbus, GA last night and said the show was great. He wants to have sex with Jenny Lewis' voice (yes, that is an exact quote). He said Chris Martin threw Apple into the crowd so she could crowd surf and ran through Philips so he could speak intimately with the crowd in the back of the floor about Keeping Trade Fair.
